I Must disagree with the other reviews on here. I discovered this recipe on kraft's website and the reviews there were very helpful. Simply double the amount of brown sugar and butter, and follow the directions from there, don't worry about the butter and sugar not completely combining and you will be fine. And there may be some scorching on the edges, but reducing bake time to 6 mins or simply cutting the burnt edges off is helpful. This recipe always hits the spot and i make it all the time. Like any recipe, the directions may need a little tweak bacause as we all know, ovens and kitchens vary. I think if this 16 year old can make it, everyone can ;)

First of all, this recipe does not make enough toffee mixture to cover the crackers. Second, my oven is calibrated correctly, and the toffee burned. Takes more chocolate, too. Wondered if anyone else had trouble with the toffee mixture. Even boiling as long as directed, the butter did not completely blend with the sugar.

I agree- DO NOT use this recipe. I followed this recipe to the "t" and while cooking the toffee it says not to stir so because of that mine scorched. I decided to try to finish but after spreading a very thin layer of toffee over crackers and baking for approximately 3 minutes the mixture started smoking. Don't ask what went wrong. But, I followed recipe exactly as written. I will be using another recipe from this site next time- NOT this one.

The only problem with this recipe was the portions which is a problem that can be solved with quick thinking. There wasn't enough toffee or chocolate in this recipe so I had to HURRY up and make twice the amount! While making this, my cousin suggested I melt some marshmellows onto it before coating it with chocolate. This was a GREAT idea. These treats were tasty & wonderful. My advice to anyone going for a bite is to make sure you have a tall glass of milk handy; you WILL need it!

DO NOT USE THIS RECIPE! I thought all saltine toffee recipes were the same but they are not. I have made this stuff many times with great success by using one of the other recipes on this site but this one has the proportions all wrong! I would suggest using the one with the most reviews.
