This is my 1st try making home made fries.... YUM!! I had to use peanut oil as I'd just run out of olive oil. I also used fresh ground sea salt. As the recipe states to continue cooking until golden brown.. I cooked my fries for an additional 15 minutes, turning every 5 minutes to ensure that they did not burn. My boyfriend LOVED them and asked for more. These fries will be making a regular appearance on my dinner table. Thank you Margaret!

For alternative french "fries" that don't require frying, I think these are great. Thanks for sharing.

These are easy and tasty - my daughter's 'home fry expert' friend thought they were the best she's ever had! Pretty high praise for an eight-year-old. I really like them too - I think there's a big difference with soaking them first - just be careful they don't burn.

A lot of extra work for nothing special. I didn't notice any difference after them soaking in the water/soy sauce/cornstarch mixture compared to other baked french frie recipes.
