Loved it! Add a little beef broth, and stewed tomatoes. Yum!

I was impressed! I was short on time. I boiled the stew meat for about 25min. I stuck to the recipe word for word, and placed in oven for about 1 hour. I placed on top of a bed of egg noodles. My 6 year old girl and 5 year old son LOVED it as much as me! A KEEPER!

This was gorgeous. Followed the directions but used beef broth instead of water and fresh basil instead of dried. We will be making this again.

I'm not a fan of stew to begin with, but my husband likes it. this was bland - needs more spice next time.

My mother was going to make stew today, but she'd been in bed sick all day. She tried to tell me which cookbook to look in for her recipe, but I decided to look on allrecipes for my own recipe. After I had chosen this recipe and started making it, I looked at my mom's old recipe book - It was almost exactly the same recipe!!! A classic, easy recipe for true comfort food. I did add a small can of tomato sauce and some mushrooms, but left the rest of the recipe intact.

Made this yesterday...doubled the recipe and added 1 can of beef broth...so, so good. My husband and the kids loved it! We had ours over some brown rice and just had the leftovers tonight. Next time I will make enough to freeze. Thanks for the recipe...it's a keeper!!!

Made this for dinner tonight. I doubled all the ingred. as suggested, after the first hour I added a can of beef broth because there wasn't enough liquid and a little red wine. It made too much for my husband and myself but I'm glad because I can freeze some for a quick meal in the future. Would be good with Italian bread, Bisquick Garlic and Cheese biscuits or corn bread.

I don't give this review lightly but this was horrid! I followed the recipe to a "t"! It was super salty and super tomato-y. I hate tomato soup but actually thought the tomato soup would blend in well and make a nice base for the stew. NOPE. It was tomato soup with beef that was way too salty and a stew base that was way too salty while the potatoes and carrots were undercooked as well as too salty. There was just nothing in this recipe to work with in the future, so hands down I wish I could give a review with no stars.

Yummo!!! Thank you Ruth. I am also from your city...HooraH!! This recipe is a beautiful change from the cream of mushroom soup mix I was used to. MMM, MMM, I love how it is somewhat sweet and somewhat tangy but just the right amount of MMMM I was looking for. definately using this again.

This is very good and easy. The only things I changed were adding one can of beef broth, and adding my vegetables (I only used potatos) at the start because they are still a little crunchy after 2 hours. This stew is very filling and it's one of our favorite meals.

This recipe is great, although I made a few changes. I use oregano instead of basil and use carrots and celery in place of potatoes. I serve the stew over garlic mashed potatoes and my family goes crazy for it!

For me, it took about 2 1/2 hours for the beef to be really tender. I added tomato juice when it got dry. Made as written, it was kinda bland - ended up adding garlic, onion powder, and a ton more ground pepper. Some red wine would definitely have been a nice addition. This was ok but I have better stew recipes. Thanks anyway!

I didn't use this recipe exactly, but since I don't have a slow cooker, I needed something I could make in the oven in a regular pot. I browned and seasoned the meat first (without adding the flour), then I added a bag of already-prepared stew veggies to the meat in the pot, water, beef bullion cubes, beef stew seasoning mix, and a can of crushed tomatoes and cooked it on 350 for 1 hr. It was quick to prepare that way and tastes great! :-)

I just made this tonight. I added a bit of other spices like garlic powder and kørvel (no idea what it is in english). The tomatoe soup was a bit too sweet for me so I think I'll add less than a can next time I make this. It was pretty good though and my husband enjoyed eating it with rolls. We also added corn but to our own bowls. Cooked corn of course ;) we liked the crunch it gave. I'll be making this in the future again but I think I'll make some changes later on. Oh and I also added a vegetable bullion cube to the water and added that. And I definitly added more water toward the middle of cooking. I don't like it being way too thick. ;) thanks for the recipe
