This ended up being great after I diluted the soup 3 times while cooking the pasta. It's a BIG MISTAKE to use concentrated broth in this recipe - it makes it TOO salty - especially with parmesan cheese. I skipped the basil and reduced the butter by half. I didn't find it too dry - because I added water while it was cooking to ensure the pasta was cooked. The finished result was *****.

Deceptively simple ingredients come together in a delicious way. We make this very often- it makes a great side dish for just about anything. Great as leftovers, but also nice enough to serve when you have company (with a little fresh basil garnish). Have also made it with dried basil in a pinch, and it is pretty good, but I think it's the fresh basil that makes it. Great recipe!

This was really great. So easy to make and tasted restaurant quality. Next time I am going to saute the orzo in olive oil rather than butter.

This was awesome! I used dried basil but other than that followed to a T. Kids & husband loved it. Compliments chicken as well as steak tips. Will be making again very soon.

Made this for dinner tonight. Great! Didn't have fresh basil, so I used dried. Still really good. I'm sure it would be amazing with fresh. Also, didn't have parmesan, so I used Asiago. Will definately make again. The whole family loved it, including a 5 year old and 3 year old twins. Thanks!

This recipe was really easy to make and to add a little extra flavor I added some minced garlic to the rice while it was browning. Even though I used a low sodium chicken broth, the Parmesan cheese has a good amount of salt so I only added some fresh cracked pepper to season. Surprisingly it turned out much better than I expected!

We really loved it. Saute a few cloves of garlic, then make sure you thoroughly saute the orzo in butter and or olive oil. It will turn brown when it is toasted. I am sure that I added more chicken stock than it calls for, because I added some then added a little more as needed. I used fresh basil and it was quite tasty. Like something you will find in an upscale restaurant.

Eew, not good :( I love to cook, read my othe reviews, I'm pretty easy to please, but my mouth did not agree with this one. It was oily and I didn't like the texture after I added the cheese, it seemed like it either needed a lot more, or I shouldn't have added it to begin with. And definitely not worth the $1.99 for the fresh bunch of basil!

Even better than I expected, and easy too. I was looking for an easy orzo recipe that didn't require a lot of ingredients (pantry supplies are low) and this fit the bill. The only substitution I had to make was using dried basil instead of fresh. My husband and I both liked this very much, and I will definitely make it again.

This was really good. And really easy. Perfect way to use fresh basil from the garden. I added minced garlic to the butter. Basil and garlic always go together.

I only had dried parsley, worked fine. I don't think I sauteed the garlic long enough though. Still tasted good! Definitely recommend this!

Very Good. I thought it was going to be a little bit more creamy but the flavor was great. Did use a little more chicken broth. Wonderful to use basil grown from our garden. Definately something I would make again, may even add roasted vegetables next time.

Absolutely lovely. I added some sauteed onions and mushrooms (right in with the browning orzo) and cut down just a tad on the fresh shredded parmesan. I think my family would have loved this recipe just as written, though, and for sure we'll make it often! Thanks!

I really enjoyed this dish. Although I didn't have any basil, I just threw it a handful of chopped italian parsley. It was so easy to make. I served it with lamb chops and steamed asparagus.

This was a huge hit at my house!! I used the whole box of orzo, therefore I adjusted the proportions accordingly. This was my favorite kind of dish, simple and delicious. I have used dried basil before when I did not have fresh and while it is not as good, it still gets completely devoured. This goes great will a simple Italian marinaded chicken or basically any chicken dish.
