This was great. Made essentially by the recipe but my husband threw in a large slosh of heavy whipping cream at the end of the preparation. And then let it sit for an additional five minutes. We loved it.

We put parmesan on everything but I found this a little intense. Will make often, but will definately reduce the cheese to taste. I also added 1tsp minced garlic while browning the rice, and some extra broth towards the end as per other reviewers. Otherwise this recipe was a great side dish. Very scalable, from cooking for two or for an entire family. Similar to risotto without all of the work.

This is the best side dish I've ever made. It's a great budget meal since the orzo, chicken broth, cheese and basil cost me about $8 together. It's easy to make and hard to mess up. Every time I've made it, about twenty by now, it's come out wonderful. I even have guests asking for the recipe. If I could give this recipe more than five stars, I would.

This recipe is very versatile. I usually make it with the parmesan cheese, but I was out yesterday and used some cheddar. I also roast some vegetables (onions, asparagus, corn, tomatoes, zucchini, peppers...) with olive oil and then toss it all together. It is a good way to use up any leftover veggies. It is very hard to screw this one up!

Very good side dish. I added garlic and onion and a little heavy cream. This is very versatile... lots you can do with it. Hubby really liked it, too. I served it with Lemon Pepper Chicken and some grilled pineapple. Om nom nom! Thanks!

This is now a staple at our house. I omit the basil or parmesan depending on what I am cooking with it, and we are always satisfied.

Easy to make, few ingredients, and most importantly, delicious! If you don't have fresh basil, only use half of what the recipe calls for. I will make this again.

Talk about a quick and easy side that is delicious too. My husband raved about it on his way out the door to a meeting...know he will be looking for the leftovers..oops! I didn't have fresh basil, so used dried sweet basil leaves (I know, doesn't do it justice, but all I had) and used shredded parm instead of grated, just a preference there. I will be making this one often!

To quote my 8 year-old daughter, "wow, this is good!" I also made a few adjustments, based on other reviews. I added mushrooms sauteed in garlic at the end (next time I might be tempted to sautee them in a little white wine). I also added some cooked brown rice and a little extra parmesan. Excellent base recipe.

Outstanding side dish! I went a little nuts with the fresh basil but other than that, this dish has great flavor. I served it with a broiled grouper recipe from allrecipes and it was excellent. My husband and daughter enjoyed it and I will be making it again!

I served this with Baked Salmon Fillets Dijon (recipe from this site) This was the perfect side dish. I think you could serve this with just about anything. Wonderful! The only thing different I did was add 1/4 cup chopped onion. I sauted it in the butter about 3 minutes before adding the Orzo. Great dish! Thanks for sharing.

A nice creamy orzo recipe and quite tasty. (Almost reminded me of risotto.) Easy to prepare: it simmered while I grilled outside. Our kids liked it, too, once they got past the name "orzo" which was something they were sure they wouldn't like it. Adding this to our regular rotation.

This is a surprisingly delicious side dish. I say surprising because after reading the recipe i thought it might be bland. I had additional spices and cheeses ready to add however after taste testing the orzo it was perfect as written. I think fresh grated parmesan is the key to this quick, easy and tasty dish.
