This side dish was very good, not at all bland. I used Uncle Ben's Ready Rice that takes 90 seconds in the microwave, so no need for the water. I sauteed half the amount of celery and used 1/4 c. of green onion I then mixed that in with the rice in a bowl. I then added the salt and orange juice along with some fresh sqeezed orange juice and some cut up fresh orange segments. All that was needed was a few dashes of cracked black pepper! It had a very nice citrus taste that went great with pork.

This recipe is very flavorful, but I made a few changes. First, I cooked the celery and onion in the butter and added minute rice until it was golden. Then I added the wet ingredients, and instead of using OJ and zest, I added 3 rounding TB of Orange Marmalade! It was Wonderful!

This is something that I will not make again. Only change I made from reading other reviews was to replace the water with chicken broth, and turned out with no flavor at all, which surprised me being zest and juice was added also. Also, for some reason the texture of the rice was tough and just not appetizing. Maybe there is potential, but I think it needs some adjusting as far as adding some things for some flavor.

I really enjoyed this rice recipe. It had a nice light orange flavor that went perfectly as a side to my light chicken in white wine. This isn't an orange sauce like chinese food if that's what you're looking for, but I think the citrus is refreshing.

This was very good. I was concerned by the reviews that it was a little bland, so I used chicken broth instead of water. The orange was faint, but it was perfect. Too much would have been too sweet. This made a great side dish for the Marmalade Pork Tenderloin recipie I found on AllRecipies.com

As it stands this dish is bland but it you substitute frozen orange juice concentrate it gives it much more zip. Then I can rate it 4.

Overall I have to agree that this dish is rather bland but I do think it has potential. As I was squeezing additional fresh orange juice into the pan with the sauteing celery and onion, I accidently dropped chunks of orange segments into the mix and decided to leave them there. In fact, I added the flesh of 1 entire orange. I will play with this recipe again and I encourage others to experiment with it too. A few things I would recommend: Add the zest and flesh of 2 oranges and replace at least half the liquid in this recipe with orange juice.

Not much orange flavor at all, this really didn't do anything for us at all.
