Amazing cake! Very light and not too sweet. As others did, I used vanilla pudding, vanilla extract and made my own glaze of powdered sugar and orange juice.

I made this cake for my husband's BD. I used to buy an orange cake mix, but none of the markets, in which I shop, carries it anymore. This recipe is a Godsend. I followed other suggestions and used vanilla pudding and I substituted orange extract for the lemon in the recipe. But I have a suggestion on applying the glaze: I used a bundt pan to bake my cake. After turning out the cake and allowing it to cool, I made the glaze and poured it into the empty bundt pan (I washed it and sprayed lightly with Pam). Then I put the cake back in, pushing it down until the glaze rose up the sides. In a couple minutes all the glaze was evenly absorbed and I turned the cake back out onto a plate. There wasn't a drop of glaze left in the pan. Worked perfectly. Try it!

This cake has the texture between cake and pancake! Odd, but not awful. Kids loved it, but the adults did not. Sorry, would not make again.

I thought this cake was fine, but nothing to get excited about. I used many of the recommendations from other reviewers. I do not plan to make this recipe again.

This was fantastic! I used yellow cake mix (which helps give it a healthy orange color), vanilla pudding, and orange extract. I let the glaze to a boil for a scant three minutes, stirring constantly. I brought it to a work function today and it was gone within the hour. Great recipe.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this recipe! Delicious cake without a hint of that came-from-a-box flavor. I added 2 t. of orange extract, used a butter cake mix and vanilla pudding. I made it in two 9 inch layers (24 minutes at 350)and frosted it with cream cheese/whipped cream frosting from this site adding 2 t. of orange extract and about 1T of orange zest. It is out of this world! YUM and thanks for a truly wonderful super easy recipe!

This cake is incredibly moist and delicious. I served it as "Lemony Orange Cake" b/c that described it better. The only thing I did different was once the cake was cool, I put it back in the pan and poured the hot glaze over it, making sure the excess ran down the middle & sides and let it soak for 10-15 minutes before removing. This completely encased the entire cake in glaze and locked in the moisture. It was wonderful!

I LOVED this cake. It tastes just like a cake my grandmother used to make. I added the zest of an orange and used vanilla extract and vanilla pudding. I made a glaze of fresh squeezed OJ, powdered sugar and a dash of butter extract. I poked holes in the cake with a fork when it was still warm and let the glaze seep in. The next morning my coworkers said it was DELICIOUS. Thanks!

I used freshly squeezed orange juice and the zest of about 1/2 an orange, yellow cake mix, orange cream flavoring (rather than lemon extract), and lemon pudding, yet the orange flavor in the cake was still very faint. Then, I made the 'glaze,' which totally ruined it because it tastes like a greasy topping. I plan on scraping the 'glaze' off and trying to replace it with the orange glaze used in the 'Poppy Seed Bread with Glaze' recipe. I'd have liked this recipe a bit if I hadn't of made 'Key Lime Cake II' the same day .. that cake put this one to shame!

My son's favorite flavor is orange so I made him this cake for his birthday. Everyone loved it! I followed the advice of other reviewers and dusted the pan with sugar, added the zest of 2 oranges to the batter, used French vanilla cake mix and freshly squeezed orange juice. A delicious cake recipe.

Easy to make. I followed the recipe exactly. Love the orange flavor. My Fiance loved it. I glazed the cake and covered the top with a layer of almonds and then glaze again. Thank you Angie! This one is a keeper!! Gati

I made this for an orange-lover's birthday. There's a seasonally available boxed orange cake that we usually use, but WOW this was better. I followed the recipe but changed 3 things per reviewers comments to make it truly ORANGE: switched orange extract for lemon, switched vanilla pudding for lemon, and added some orange peel. The glaze soaked in well. Some leached back out, but was not a problem at all. If I could convert this to a layer cake that's more 'decoratable', this would be THE annual birthday cake. Thanks, Angie!

i made this for my husbands birthday. He loved it, as well as the whole family! I didn't use all of the icing though. I think next time I would only 1/4 of the icing. Great recipe! :-)

I've made this cake twice now and both times it was raved about by all who had some!! The first time I made it, I used lemon pudding but I used orange extract as well. The second time, I followed others suggestion of vanilla pudding and again this cake was a winner. I also followed someone's advice about putting the cake back in the pan and pouring some of the glaze on bottom first- great idea!

Very delicious! Made my house smell heavenly while it baking! The changes I made were similar to other reviews - I used vanilla pudding and orange extract. Next time I will use a powdered sugar-type glaze rather than the one listed on this recipe. It is very delicious however I think I'd prefer the ps glaze on it. My hubby, kids and I couldn't wait to get it out of the oven and try it. It really is fantastic! Thanks for sharing your recipe, Angie!
