Orange Brownies
SUBMITTED BY:
Rosella Peters
"'Chocolate and orange go together deliciously in these moist fudgy brownies,' notes Rosella Peters from Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. Pecans add crunch while orange peel sprinkled on the frosting lends the finishing touch."

DIRECTIONS
In a small saucepan, melt butter. Stir in cocoa until smooth. Remove from the heat. In a bowl, beat eggs until frothy. Without stirring, add the sugar, flour, pecans, orange juice concentrate, peel and salt. Pour cocoa mixture over the top; mix well. Transfer to a greased 8-in. square baking pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 28-32 minutes or until edges begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely on a wire rack. For frosting, combine confectioners' sugar, butter and orange juice concentrate; mix well. Spread over the brownies. Cut into bars; garnish with orange peel if desired.

I really liked these a lot! The orange and the chocolate go so well together. The icing was a little melty, but if you kept them in the fridge, that wasn't a huge deal.

I followed this recipe to the letter and it was AWFUL! I knew it was going to be bad when I tasted the batter, but I baked them anyway. They didn't have enough chocolate taste and the orange juice made it just taste strange. The orange icing tasted great by itself but awful all together. I threw away the whole batch.

Delicious! Everyone loved these- took some to a party and some to my Aunt's house and they were very much appreciated. So easy to make too. I forgot about the orange zest but it would have made it even better, I'm sure. Orange and chocolate go so well together- I've been looking for a recipe like this for a while now.
