This was pretty good. I used a whole stick of butter, 3 c powdered sugar (no cocoa), and 1/6 c fat-free half and half with 1/6 c milk (really, I changed almost everything, which makes this a different recipe). I put this on a decadent two-layer chocolate cake. Such a rich buttercream was probably not the best idea, but the icing alone was fine. Together, the cake and icing were a little overpowering.

Good flavor and real easy. I actually omitted the cocoa because I wanted a vanilla frosting and added a little extra vanilla extract. Tip: don't overmix as it will begin to separate. It was an very easy recipe.

This tasted great! It had nice chocolate flavor but was still very light and fluffy. Nice to spread on a cake. I also loved that it only took one bowl to prepare. I'll make this again.

The buttercream frosting I usually use can turn out a little sloppy so I decide to give this one a go. Brilliant didn't need any more milk was just right as it was. Put it on top of Grand pop's Special Chocolate Cake. Will use again. Thanks

This frosting has a great consistency and wasn't hard to make. It lacked something, though. The left-overs made GREAT graham cracker sandwhich cookies! I will try it again sometime.

Really yummy! Mine was ultra creamy tho, because my milk was turning, so I had to use heavy cream instead, Lol. So Yeah. It was RICH! Ultra sweet, but made me think of Mom...will use again! Thanx.

This was a wonderful, tasty frosting! I, too, was worried about the texture, but it truly does sit perfectly on the cake and doesn't seem gritty at all when you eat it. I also used a lot more milk in this recipe (not only as necessary--but also to reduce sweetness!) That's why I'm only giving it four stars, I definitely think the recipe should call for more milk. Otherwise, thanks for a keeper!!! *-V.

YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM!! Best Frosting I Ever Tasted!! I had never made a frosting from scratch before so i was nervous. and at first I didn't like the way it looked and thought it tasted to buttery. But when I put it on the yellow 13x9" cake... Omg it was So Delicious! My family Completly Devoured it. I also covered it with multicolored nonpareils sprinkles. So Good! I will definitly be making this again and again.

my confectioners sugar wasn't quite powdered enough and this frosting came out absolutely horrible. when i think of buttercream frosting, i think of light, buttery, rich creamy frosting. when I made this, I got watery, gritty, too sweet, liquid. i didnt even bother frosting my cake with it. I wont be making this recipe again, even though it was my mistake of usong not-powdered-enough sugar, I dont think this recipe would have tasted like buttercream anyway.

Outstanding! Just like the kind we made when I was a child, before the store bought kind. My daughters loved it, it was easier for them to frost with because it is so 'whippy!'
