I change this up a bit...I use dill pickles, and green onion, and dijon mustard. I also don't add the celery but that's just personal preference. It's a great base recipe to change up as you see fit!

Easy recipe, but everyone agreed it lacked a little flavor. I followed the advice of others mixing yellow and dijon mustard, but still needed something more. Maybe more eggs and more salt will help next time.

This is the one! Seriously.... this is the first potato salad where it turned out perfect and everyone complimented me on the finished dish. I have had so many failures in the past, it was great to finally arrive at the perfect potato salad recipe.

Really good! I left the potato skins on, for my personal preference and I didn't have celery. .. so I just did without. Still very good result and quite a hit. Oh yeah, I also sprinkled in some paprika. Thanks!

I ended up with way too much relish for my liking in the potato salad. Next time I'll cut down on the amount of relish and mustard.

Very good base recipe. I also had to double (or more) the spices, added parsley (about 1 tablespoon). Also, added 2 Tablespoons of sugar and doubled the mayo. I have made this recipe by boiling the potatoes whole and then peeling and cutting them and by peeling and cutting them before I boil them. Either way turns out great and if you peel and cut first you have more of a handle on how soft the potatoes get.

Yum! This recipe is most similar to my mother-in-law who has been making her potato salad for decades! Now I finally have the exact measurements. I did make the following changes: doubled the sauce, used green onions, sprinkled it some All Seasoning, and added about 1/4 cup of Miracle Whip to give it some tang. I recommend making it the day before if you can--it gets better with time.

A lot of adjustments needed to be made, but this was a very good start. Recommend chopped dill pickles (instead of sweet relish), doubling the mayo, doubling the spices, and doubling the eggs. Add a little fresh dill and some chopped black olives, and you have a hit!

Love it!! Just what I think of when I think "traditional" potato salad. I think you HAVE to use the sweet pickle relish. My only complaint is - how much is "5 potatoes"? I prefer a weight - I think I used about half of a 5 lb bag of red potatoes and upped the dressing a bit. Also, a good think to remember is to cut your potatoes up BEFORE you cook them if they are not pretty uniform in size. Two of mine were a good bit bigger than the others and they ended up rather al dente (not what I want in my potato salad!)

I left out the relish and added a tablespoon ( a splash anyway) of vinegar to the mayo instead. Its just what this recipe needed I think.

This tastes great!! I give it 4 stars because after 20 minutes my potatoes were still too firm (finding out after I cooled, peeled, chopped and added dressing). I also had to add about an add'l 1/2 cup of mayo. It would be much too dry without. Otherwise, all ingredients remained the same. I will still try this recipe again because it tasted so good.

I didn't measure the ingredients, just season to taste and I didn’t use any eggs or celery b/c my husband is allergic to celery. I used red potatoes, cubed before boiling, with skin on. Half real mayo and half miracle whip. A healthy squirt of prepared mustard & mustard powder, in addition to sweet relish, onion powder, chopped white & green onion, pepper. Mix all together, chill completely and serve…voila!! Yum, yum!!!

Double the spices and then this is really good. I used pickles instead of celery and omitted the onion. A real classic.
