My husband made these today and they were amazing! He used italian style bread crumbs and they made them even better!

So delicious! I have no deep fryer, so I just used a deep pan. I used a mixture of panko crumbs and regular bread crumbs. Also added chilli powder, curry powder, onion powder, ginger, dried sweet basil, cumin, a tiny bit of nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Very flavorful, with a nice crunch! Would definitely make again and again.

The only thing I did different in making this recipe is I used Bread Crumbs with Italian Seasoning instead of just plain bread crumbs. I made the change due to not having plain bread crumbs, but it was Really good, that I didn't even use ketchup to eat them as I normally do! They were only 'lightly' flavored & came out PERFECT! This is a GREAT Recipe that has made my ~personal~ Recipe Box!:-)

Absolutely fabulous, my boyfriend tries to hover and eat them as they come out of the pan!! I use brown onions, and I add about 1-2 tbs garlic powder and 1 tbs black pepper to the flour mix for extra flavor. I fry mine in about 1/2 inch EVOO in a pan on the stovetop and flip when the bottoms turn golden. Love christina b's suggestion for using resealable bags and lidded bowl with tongs, made making them and cleaning up so much easier! I also used Panko but did not make them smaller. Also I recommend starting with 3/4 cup milk instead of the full cup, its too runny. I have also used this batter recipe on red bell pepper strips and fried them, and in place of beer batter mixes when I fry cod and catfish. Plan on trying this with okra soon too!

Great!! Coating didn't seem to want to stick to the onions but the flavor was delicious.

this is by far the best home-made onion ring recipe I have ever tried - and I am an onion ring SNOB :o) I have now officially quit searching for that "perfect" recipe - cause with this one I found it! Thanks for sharing!
