If I could give more stars I would. The kids LOVED this recipe, as did I. I wouldn't change a thing about it, but I did substitute because I didn't have bread crumbs, so I crushed up Ritz crackers and used them instead. They were very good.

These rings were awesome!! I added some season salt and garlic pepper to my bread crumbs for a little extra. I like that this batter didn't cover up the taste of the onion. These are also not as greasy as a thick batter that asorbs all of the grease.

These are great! I love onion rings, but I often settle for the frozen ones. This recipe reminded me why home cooked is so much better. ThankS!

I am soooo glad that I found this recipe. My sons and I are having a deep fried day. These are the best onion rings I have ever had. They are well worth the time and effort it takes to make them. We liked the inner rings best. I left the inner 3 rings intact and they were almost juicy. Yummy!!!!

Messy to make but delicious!!! And they don't make you feel gross like the ones you would buy in a restaurant... You don't even need a deep fryer, just a pot with heated oil.

These were awesome!!! The family LOVED it! I did do a couple things different though. I dipped the onion in the egg mixture first, then the flour, back to the egg and then to the bread crumbs. I made for a better coating that stuck and stayed nicer than the first few following the recipe directions. I also added a roasted garlic seasoning to the flour mix and a little garlic salt to the bread crumb mix.

This is the best onion ring recipe I have ever tasted. The only ingredient I chose to alter it with is using Panko (Japanese-style) breadcrumbs.

These are the best onion rings in the world! YUM! Well worth that hell of a mess they made. I didn't have enough bread crumbs so I combined them with pretzels. And also added cayenne pepper and garlic powder. Fantastic!

It didn't work for me - the breading didn't stick well, and didn't have much flavor.

These onion rings rock! I honestly didn't find them all that time consuming or difficult to make. I took the one reviewer's advice of doing the flour/batter part in a ziploc bag, and that worked great, really cut down on the messiness! I didn't use the deep fryer, just heated about 1/4" oil in my cast iron skillet. Thanks, I'll be making these again!

OMG these were AWESOME! Even my 14 year old nephew who HATES onions tried these and loved them. They were a bit messy but having read the other reviews (should have done that first I guess, LOL) I will use the suggegsted shortcuts the next time I make these. Oh and i didn't have seasoned salt so I added a bit of paprika and chili powder to the flour mix. Thanks for sharing this fantastic recipe!!
