Be forewarned...if you make this your family most likely will put up a stink if you ever try to by frozen onion rings!!! These were absolutely amazing. I couldn't believe how good they were. My family loves onion rings and I've always settled for the frozen kind that I bake in the oven. You can't even compare it to the taste of these. I followed the recipe exactly, using only the suggestion to use the ziploc bags for coating. I will most definitely be making these again. Next time I'll try to take a picture...this time we just couldn't wait to attack the plate :)

Delicious, these taste just like restaurant onion rings. Very easy when you use ziplock bags for flouring, coating and crumbing. I used stuffing mix crushed up. Yum!

Finally, my search for the best onion ring recipe is over! These were just fantastic- I served it with the Blooming Onion dipping sauce from this site, and it was a match made in heaven! I'll be trying this with Vidalia onions next time and bet it will be even better, if that's possible!

Best onion rings I've ever had...made them just as recipe instructed, except fried in a skillet with a quarter inch of hot oil in bottom. Making them again tonight.

Best onion rings ever! Followed recipe to a "T". It is a little time consuming, but well worth the effort. I am going to make up a batch ahead of time, and flash freeze them without cooking them so that they will be ready to go next time. Will let you know how that goes!

FABULOUSLY DELICIOUS!!!! I have been eating, cooking, and baking for over 75 years, and have never tasted onion rings as good as these. I followed another reviewers advice and put the rings on a skewer over a bowl to drain. After frying, I placed them on a paper towel covered plate, and lightly salted them--it took two batches. My only complaint is that by the time the second batch had finished, I had eaten three or four of the first batch of onion rings--so delicious. Even after they had cooled, I couldn't stop munching on them. Thank you Jean Marie for this excellent and delicous recipe.

Delicious! This recipe was a big hit at our Super Bowl party. I didn't have "1 large onion", but I had a bag of yellow onions that were medium-sized. I used 2 of those onions and there was just enough batter. I cut them slightly thicker than 1/4 inch. We served them with Ken's Steak House Honey Mustard Dressing. The breading stayed on the onions, and was crunchy and delicious. This recipe is a keeper!

Awesome recipe. I did add onion powder, garlic powder, savoury, black pepper and salt to the bread crumbs. The idea of placing foil under the rack made it great for clean up. It wasn't as messy as other onion ring recipes. I used container for the flour mix and the bread crumbs to coat the rings as suggested by others. It saved lots of time. I will def be making these again!

OMG! Fabulous recipe! I used Panko crumbs as someone suggested and a sweet white onion. I kept cooked rings in the oven at 250 degrees after each batch. The result was beautifully golden brown rings, crispy on the outside with soft onion on the inside. My hubby was very impressed! This one goes in the recipe book. Thanks!

Thanks for the recipe! :) I Made a big batch for my kids and they gobbled the onion rings up as fast as I could make them. I also added a pinch of pepper and seasoning salt to the batter and used Italian bread crumbs instead of plain. Next time I am going to try to bake them. Update: I did bake them and they were good but so much better fried!!

Excellent dish! I'm a deep fryer novice and I found this an easy-to follow recipe. For a little extra heat, I added some cayenne pepper and tabasco sauce to the mixture.
