OMG--so good!!! Reminded me somewhat of Sonic onion rings. I was impressed by this recipe because I don't have much luck with deep frying things. It is usually a huge mess and the coating doesn't stick, etc. These were amazing!!

It's really a shame that I found this recipe....It's too good and I'll be tempted to make them way too often. I only had Italian bread crumbs so that's what I used and they were wonderful. I don't have a deep fryer so I used a heavy pan and probably got them a little too brown. We like thicker rings so I kept several of the rings of onions in one "ring". Love these!!!!

Delicious! I followed the recipe exactly and they all turned out awesome!!! For a dipping sauce; In a bowl add 2 parts ranch dressing and 1 part hickory barbecue sauce, don't mix and serve. DELICIOUS!

Holey Moley!!! I have never tasted a better onion ring! I used the panko bread crumbs like others suggested and it really gave the rings a great crunch. 100% better then any onion ring at any restraunt.

If I could give this more than a five, I would. I order onion rings when eating out all the time but have never made them myself. These are better than any I have ever had. Awesome!!!

great recipe! I didn't have a rack to let the batter drip off of onions but I just used the side of my bowl to bang the batter off a bit. Well, it still turned out great. Will make again.

SOOOO GOOD!! There is a reason these have hundreds of 5 star ratings. This is a side dish that will impress your dinner company. They are a bit of work but the FLAVOR and CRUNCH is off the charts. I seasoned the flour mix with a spice rub that has several ingredients recommended by other cooks and used panko bread crumbs. I had an onion that was close to a pound and I did run out of batter but the rings were so big, three were fine for a serving. My young sons rated them as "way better" than our previously favorite onion ring. Once you make these you'll always be disappointed by what you get from your neighborhood burger place. I only wish they weren't so fattening so they could be made more often.

I have never rated a recipe after all the years of using this site but this one needed another set of 5 stars. All I can say it is worth the extra effort because the onion rings were the best I've ever had. My husband who is a onion ring snob LOVED them. Thanks!

These are very good. I used previous suggestions and did the first two steps in a gallon zip bag. I also used Panko bread crumbs which made the most difference I think. They had wonderful crunch, and I did 2 medium onions. The kids even loved them.

WOW. Made these last night and LOVED them. I've always wanted to use Panko crumbs, but never remembered to pick them up. I was craving onion rings yesterday and read so many reviews about using the Panko crumbs, so I picked some up on my way home. I'll always keep Panko crumbs on hand. What a difference they make! These rings were wonderful. Husband ate his first one and just kept nodding his head and chewing - nodding and chewing :-) They were a little time consuming, but worth well worth the effort. If I make any changes, it would be to add something, maybe a little to give it a little more kick. Thanks for another keeper!

Excellent!!!! I just finish making them. The only problem that I had was that I kept eating them as they came out. I am going to make another batch in a bit to serve with dinner tonight. I also made the blooming onion dipping sauce from this site which was great.

These were absolutely perfect! I chose to use a sweet onion but next time I'll go with the yellow, the sweet didn't pack quite enough onion flavor. Also, for the bread crumbs I used Panko, those breadcrumbs can't be beat when it comes to frying, it's light and crunchy. I like to dip mine in Ranch dressing. Yum!

Crunchy and super tasty (I even forgot to put seasoned salt on them, they were just that good!)...a huge downside is how long these take to make. It's not even worth the effort to make more than 3 servings. I was not planning on feeding more than my boyfriend and self, and ended up having 3 more adults and a 5-year-old to feed as well, and it took us an hour to make all these. Dipping each ring 3 times is pretty time consuming! I admit it was worth it for the flavor and exquisite crunch, but I'll never make this for so many people again!
