This recipe was handed down thru generations in my family but instead of using dry beans I use pork & beans drain some liquid off and mix all ingridents together and bake with slices of raw bacon on top. I take it to all get togethers and always left with an empty bowl. Audrene from Michigan

Did not like. The beans didn't cook properly even after hours of cooking. I will stick to my "canned baked beans" (instead.

I was SO excited to find a bean recipe where the dry beans actually got soft!!! The beans turned out ok but they need a bit more oomph...a little BBQ sauce maybe or vinegar. LQF

These were ok, but I had some problems. The beans cooked for several hours and were still hard. I finally turned up the heat a bit, and then they cooked up nice and soft. Took lots longer than I expected, though. They also got very dry and thick in the oven. Had to make up more sauce. Hubby liked it better with some catsup added.
