Great recipe. Used honey instead of molasses, and only had white flour in the house, but they turned out great!

These were really good. I ground up the oats in the coffee grinder as my younger daughter doesn't like "things" in her waffles. I also separated the eggs and whipped up the whites which resulted in a nice light batter.

I made these today on a whim. I only had old fashioned oats, so I let them sit in the buttermilk for 30 minutes before making the batter. In addition I added a teaspoon of vanilla and of cinnamon. I then topped them with some peanut butter and I made an apple/raisin yogurt topping as well. These are just fantastic. All 4 of my kids have been begging for more.

Excellent--I had only old fashioned oats so soaked those with buttermilk for about an hour. Mixed everything else in (beaten eggs last) and made lots of pancakes. Surprisingly good--3 kids and husband loved them.

I've made these as pancakes several times. To make the perfect pancakes, up the whole wheat flour to 1 1/2 cups, up the oil to 4 Tablespoons and up the Molasses to 2 Tablespoons. This is a great variation on pancakes. Thanks for the recipe.

Fantastic! I was looking for a whole grain waffle recipe I could enjoy with the family, without being heavy. These were great! I agree with other posters to beat the egg whites to stiff peaks, and add last.

If I could give this zero or negative stars I would, but since I can't...it gets a 1. It was SO runny but I thought ok this is what the recipe said, it was a mess to get out of the waffle iron. At this point my mom told me to throw the batter away and go to a new recipe but I wanted to try and salvage it. After adding at least another cup and a half of flour/oatmeal I was able to make a somewhat decent looking waffle that was like a sponge in texture and super dry.

This was an awesome whole grain waffle! It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and tasted so yummy! I whipped the egg whites before folding them into the batter, but left everything else the same. Next time I will try adding cinnamon and vanilla as others have suggested. *Great recipe!*

These were really good. Not heavy at all. I didn't have quick oats, only old-fashioned, so I gave them a pulse in my food processor to grind them a little, also tossed in the whole wheat flour. To insure fluffiness I took another reviewers advice and whipped up the egg whites, then folded them in. I added about 1.5 tsp cinnamon. Delish!! My 3 kids loved them, my little boy was talking about how they would make him "big and strong, like a coach".

Delicious. I didn't find them to be heavy or too plain. If you don't sift the flour, sift it then measure it. It should make it lighter. I didn't use molasses or oil in these. Instead I used honey and applesauce. All I had was extra thick rolled oats so I threw them into the blender to cut them up a bit that way they were finer. Love how nutritious these are. Topped them with a few puréed strawberries even though they're perfectly fine plain. Will try adding cinnamon and vanilla next time as I think that would make them even more yummy.

I am giving this recipe two stars because it was very bland. I admit I did substitue buttermilk for vanilla soy milk, and applesauce for butter, but it turned out very bland!! It needed a little something. (i did add a tsp of vanilla, and a tsp of cinnamon) Plus the mix was too watery. I had to thicken it with more flour. I think I'll stick with the oatmeal and wheat flour pancakes,(similar recipe)also posted on this sight.

I halfed the recipe--only 2 of us, still had waffles left for another serving so I am freezing them. For the egg, I did 1 egg, 1 egg white. May just do 2 eggs or try the yolk next time. Good taste-enjoyed more knowing it was healthier. But it seemed to be missing something to kick it up a bit... perhaps cinnamon or some other spice. Will try again.

No applesauce? No problem! Just use frozen (defrosted) bananas instead! Add extra for the tasty banana flavour.

Great flavor. I used my food processor to blend up old fashioned oatmeal so it was fine. I added 1/4 cup applesauce, 1/4 tsp ground cloves, 2 tsp cinnamon, dash of allspice, 4 tsp baking powder(left out soda, 2 Tb molasses and 1 cup all purpose flour and 2 Tb oil. This made for made for great belgium waffles.
