A very yummy, chewy cookie. This is definately a 5 star with some revisions. I took some of the others suggestions and added a little bit of vanilla and cinamon. I also only baked them for 10 minutes and that worked out perfectly. :) Will make again with these subs. :)

These cookies taste delicious. Even my 3 year old, who was skeptical about adding oatmeal, loved them. I'm not sure why they turned out flatter than I would have liked. Not sure where I went wrong. They only thing that I changed was butter for shortening because I didn't have any shortening.

pretty awsome cookies!! I have been on a search for ones just like these. I used butter flavor crisco and only 1 1/2 cups oatmeal, only because i thought the dough would be too dry. other than that they were to die for! Thanks for the great recipe ;)

Good cookies. Used butter flavoured Crisco, added 1 extra cup of oatmeal. Not quite what I was looking for. Wanted soft and chewy. Also I would reduce the amount of shortening by about 1/4 cup.

Seriously!!!! THE best oatmeal chocolate chip cookie EVER!!!!! I did not alter the ingredients except that I used milk chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet--just a personal preference. I cut the cooking time to 10 minutes, but let them sit on the cookie sheet for another 3 minutes. They were perfect!!!!

If I were going to make these again, I would increase the oats and add some vanilla. I would also use half shortening and half butter. As it is I think I'll just stick with one of my current recipes.

This recipe needs way more oats...I followed the recipe to a T and they turned out flat as pancakes - I had to throw them away. For the remaining batch, I added more oats and they turned out better.

Yummmm! I think I might like these better than traditional toll house. Very good. The only thing I added was about 1 tsp. of vanilla and that's because I tend to add vanilla to any sweets recipe that is without it. Will definitely make again and again!

Definitely an indulgence. Were very good though! Increased oats to three cups, added 2 tsp vanilla, and used 1 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup white (just because my 1/4 cup measure was dirty and my 1 and 1/2 ones weren't!). Also, got nervous they weren't going to flatten out so flattened the second batch while waiting for the first to come out - wasn't necessary! I would reduce the salt next time round though.

These cookies are okay... The only changes I made were to use butter flavored crisco, add 1 tsp vanilla and 1 tsp cinnamon. It's a flatter, crispier cookie. Maybe should have cooked them for less time.

I did modify the recipe. Added 1t. of cinnamon and vanilla extract and 1/2c. of oats extra to the 2c. that it called for. Decreased the salt to 1/2t. These were EXCELLENT!!! My husband and I both love these....

Perfect. After years of searching, I finally found the perfect choc. chip cookie recipe. This is my new signature. BTW, I used butter and threw in a dash of cinnamon and vanilla. Bake 10 minutes.

I was really hoping these would turn out better. I followed the recipe exactly and now I wish I had taken some of the other suggestions. The cookies didn't turn out pretty. They looked flat and greasy (they didn't taste greasy, by the way). I think maybe the addition of some vanilla might help. The flavor was really lacking.

Not as good as I had hoped for. I was looking for a moist chewy cookie, these turned out crispy but still delicious. :)
