I made this tonight, and it was very good. I used slightly less white sugar than called for, and it was perfect for us. I used chocolate/caramel swirl chips, and added walnuts. I was expecting an oatmeal-colored/tan colored cake, but this is really darker than that. It looks chocolate colored, although the chocolate flavor is mild.
One note: When I prepared the batter and poured it into the pan, I had to go back to re-read the recipe. I was sure I had done something wrong, as the batter was very thin. I was sure this cake would not turn out, but it baked up wonderfully.
