These turned out really well, I used some honey instead of brown sugar because I didn't have any brown sugar and I used m&m's instead of chocolate chips and they turned out great! Got great reviews too.

I just make this cake tonight and I only had to bake it for about 35 minutes. It's wonderfully moist and perfect. I didn't put the nuts on top just due to personal preferences. I would definately make this again!

This cake is amazing. The texture is nice and very sweet. You can barely notice the oatmeal. Great for the kids!

It's a good cake, very moist. I didn't have quite enough chocolate chips to go around but I did have some baking chocolate I melted and put on top instead. I actually don't find it sweet enough for me. I likely need to add more chocolate to it. I'm definately going to make it again with more chocolate! Thanks!!

I added a little less sugar to the dough and replaced it with chocolate hazelnut spread on top (nutella). Fabulous.

This is an EXCELLENT recipe - I omitted the walnuts, but added a dallop of whipped cream to each piece as I served it and it was perfect! Make this recipe!

Excellent, I subbed a few things, used only egg whites, halfed the butter and added some apple sauce. added 1/3 cup ground flax seed, 3/4 cup white flour, 1 cup fresh ground WW flour, used about 1/2 cup choc chips (which is plenty), also 1/4 cup ground almonds. This is an awesome heart healthy cake....

I loved this recipe! I have made it on a number of occasions and everyone had nothing but good things to say about it. I recently made it for my husband's birthday and he told his family about it on the phone...now, I will be making it again for his grandfather's birthday, as requested. Thank you for this recipe!!

Have made this several times...family loves it! I use whole wheat flour and sometimes substitute coconut oil for the fats...I have been asked for the recipe several times.

I read the reviews before I start most recipes on the site to see if they match my tastes & preferences. This one is another for my Church Fellowship Hour folder! Only changes: ** Whole wheat flour for the all-purpose (really kicks up your fiber %) ** Generous Tablespoon of cocoa powder ** Generous 'measure' of chocolate chips ** Fresh Southern Pecans instead of walnuts (not an option for all but when you live in South Carolina, it's silly not to take advantage of them). ** Butter only; just can't adapt to the margarine thing. Don't know why the previous reviewer said it wasn't moist because it is! We thoroughly enjoy it. Thanks to Luanne sharing it and to you & your husband for his military service.

This is really quite good. It was easy and I happened to have all of the ingredients on hand which is the main reason I decided to make it. I only used 1/2 the bag ofd chocolate chips and thought it was still delicious. I also omitted the nuts (allergies). It not the prettiest to look at, but the taste makes up for that.

My husband and I really enjoyed this cake. It's so nice and moist! I added some extra chocolate chips to the batter, but I can honestly say I don't think I needed too, there is enough chocolate. The only issue I had was that it stuck to the baking pan a little bit, so I think next time I will grease and flour my pan instead of just greasing it. I'll definitely be making this again, I might try making it as muffins, or we also both agreed that it would probably be excellent with a mashed banana added to the batter as well!

This is a really easy and tasty recipe. I like it that it tastes so good, yet has the redeeming quality of oatmeal and walnuts! Plus it didn't require pulling the mixer out - just a few bowls, whisk, measuring cups, and spatula! I real winner for me.

This is soooo Good!! I made a few changes to suit my taste but the basic recipe is yummy too! I drained a 10 oz jar of marashino cherries, reserving the juice and using that to add with water as needed to soak the oatmeal in, I used milk choc chips, the cherries that i chopped in the processor, mini marshmallows instead of coconut and cinnamon instead of cocoa powder. This turned out rich, goey and deliicious!!!

This was seriously yummy. Very moist and I liked the texture. Only used half the choc chips, and sprinled the top with walnuts and pecans.
