Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions

  1. Cream the butter and vanilla. Mix in the white sugar, brown sugar and the egg. Mix in the flour, cream of tartar, salt and nutmeg. Stir until well blended.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Combine the flour, cream of tartar, salt and nutmeg; stir into the creamed mixture until well blended. Divide dough and shape into rolls 2 inches in diameter. Wrap in aluminum foil and store in refrigerator for at least 2 hours and up to one week.
  3. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface. Cut in rounds 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Bake for 8 minutes or until light brown.
