No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies

  1. Line a baking sheet with waxed paper.
  2. Bring sugar, milk, margarine, and cocoa powder to a boil in a large saucepan for 1 1/2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in oats, peanut butter, and vanilla extract until dough is evenly mixed.
  3. Drop tablespoonfuls of dough on prepared baking dish and let rest until cooled and set, about 50 minutes.

  • Cook's Note:
  • For crispy cookies, substitute 2 cups quick-cooking oats and 2 cups crispy rice cereal for 3 cups oats.

YUM. I did add coconut (1 cup) and used butter instead of margarine. They set up better with butter. (let's face it, everything's better with butter) :) These are always a hit.

These remind me of my childhood and it was the one thing we cooked with my dad!! However, our family called them "goat drops". I know... Disgusting, but we loved them and had no idea Dad meant droppings! My only recommendation is they are a bit on the sweet side. Hard to taste the peanut butter. I halved the sugar and added an extra 1/4 c. of peanut butter. It's perfect for us and like some of the other reviewers said, it's a very forgiving recipe on ingredients!! Thanks for sharing this. My kids love it and we now share a bit more of my history and traditions!

These turned out great! My three year old helped make them and there wasnt a lot of exact measuring involved. This recipe is very forgiving! We were both very impatient for them to cool, so I stuck them in the fridge and they turned out great!

Just made this recipe. They are rich and chocolaty with a nice hint of peanut butter. They come together easily and set up quickly. Will definitely make this again... it will become my go-to no-bake chocolate cookie recipe.

My son and I made these, Very quick, easy, and oh so good. I followed the recipe exactly as written (was a little worried about the amount of sugar). I used Hersey cocoa powder, country crock light and peter pan creamy peanut butter. Creamy, smooth and just the right amount of chocolate to peanut butter taste. When you bring to a boil becareful not to boil over a high heat to avoid scorching your chocolate. I would recommend these to make with kids,to share, or just because.

We were eating this out of the saucepan! Great recipe that reminds me of my childhood. Didn't change anything but we did use real butter.
