I personally dont like green beans or the casseerole but tried this version (after searching through many) to make for others during thanksgiving and everyone seemed to like it, including myself. I believe what makes it better is the cr. mushroom soup. I also used cheddar fried onions on top instead of regular which gave it a lil more cheesy taste and also used the old english cheese instead of velveeta and bacon- it was delicious! It didnt need any other seasonings other than what was already in it.

I am sorry, but I was very disappointed with this recipe. I will not make it again. The soup sauce was bland, too thick and gooey.

The name is so fitting. This was the first dish we ran out of at our Thanksgiving. Will be making two of it next year. Followed the recipe as written except used Cheddar French-fried Onions and baked it for about half the written time before adding the cheddar french-fried onions then returned it to the oven for the remaining time. Turned out wonderful.

Doubled the recipe for a 18 person Thanksgiving Dinner. Used Kraft Old English Cheese (found in the dairy section of market). Replaced canned mushroom with 3/4 container of fresh sliced mushrooms. Used almost 1 10 oz can of French's Fried Onions. Added the onions with 15 minutes left of cooking. Everyone loved it!!

I didnt think this tasted too far off from regular green bean casserole. I didnt really taste the bacon in it so you probably could leave it out or add more.

I never have been a fan of Green Bean Casserole, so imagine my dismay when I was nominated to make it for Thanksgiving dinner. I immediately went on a hunt for some way to make it better - when I came upon this recipe. Of course, I thought it was just "okay" (I'd rather have sauteed or steamed fresh green beans with onions and a little bacon), but the rest of the family thought it was good, and better than the Campbell's recipe. If I get nominated to make green bean casserole for future Thanksgiving gatherings, I will likely make this recipe again.

made for thanksgiving- was pretty good, but I'm not the biggest fan of velveeta and i could detect its gooeyness in the sauce. I'll prob go back to my traditional recipe next time, but it was fun from something different!

I used double the green beans and still felt it was a little too soupy. Good flavor, everyone seemed to like it. I think I just don't care for canned green beans.

My husband was determined to find a better green bean casserole- and he did! Last year at Thanksgiving people were impressed. He used the old english cheese instead of Velveeta. It was a hit! We're making at again this year.

So I was making dinner for a friend who requested green bean casserole, which I usually HATE, so I found this recipe and made it...it was DELICIOUS; I have to mention that I added some garlic salt and a little cream cheese (although I would say that the amount of cream cheese I added did not make a huge difference b/c I was afraid to add too much), then I added some pepper and teaspoon or less of re-hydrated dried onions (just the ones you find in the baking aisle at the grocery store) and topped it with the french fried onions. I covered them while they baked to keep the onions from burning and then uncovered them toward the end. My friend said that it was "better than his mom's green bean casserole," which would most likely be a HUGE compliment coming from anyone. :) Thank you for this recipe! I now will eat green bean casserole, but only when prepared like this!!! (oh, I also didn't use bacon or add the extra mushrooms and I used a glass baking bowl instead of casserole dish...I thought there wasn't enough to fill a casserole dish and I didn't want the french fried onions to be too overpowering for the little amount there was since I added onions to the sauce).

I have made this for a number of holidays and even my non vegetable eaters come back for more. I always double and sometimes triple the recipe because it goes so fast. I have substituted low calaorie velveeta and low sodium soup with no one any the wiser and it has still been delicious.

Excellent recipe! I used a large (50 oz) can of CUT green beans and a small (15 oz) can so added a few tablespoons of whole milk and a little more cheese whiz. I left out the mushrooms just b/c family doesn't care for them.... this deserves an easy 5 star rating! Will be adding this to the holiday menu.

This was pretty good and I don't like green bean casserole. I think I will add more cheese next time though. And I used frozen (thawed) green beans instead of canned.

althoug i didnt care for my recipe, i think this one would get five stars if i had found the right cheese/bacon combo. i didnt add extra mushrooms cos i thought there was enough in the mushroom soup. the cheese/bacon cheese i used was crystal farm's cheddar with bacon cheese food and by itself it didnt taste good so i'm not surprised my recipe turned out like it did. we put cheese on our bean and peas to get the kids to eat them, so i think this recipe is right up our alley. next time i will try velveeta and bacon bits or regular "cooked" bacon. thanks! **update** made this recipe again with a jar of old english cheese and it was fantastic!!
