I have never made naan before, but served an Indian dinner last week for a few friends and was looking for naan. I found this recipe on allrecipes.com, and thought it was a winner. It was fast, easy and absolutely perfect. I will make it again and again -- and it's not just for Indian food anymore! I'm serving it with steak tomorrow night. Great recipe and I have printed it and shared it with many others! Thanks!

thumbs up! I just made a batch of fantastic naan bread! One suggestion: I used a dry skillet instead of the grill and the cooking time decreases dramatically! I burned the first piece of bread and then I only left it for max 1 minute! I could not believe it could cook so quickly but I've just tried a bit and it's PERFECT! Yummy! Thanks for a great recipe!

We loved this recipe, though the first rising took an extra hour. We grilled them. It was definitely worth the effort!

I cooked it in a frying pan, about a minute on each side until partially browned. It was the perfect texture and went great with a curry I made. I also added some cracked pepper to the mixture at the very beginning. Easy, tasty recipe. I will make it again.

I chose this naan recipe because I had all the ingredients on hand. I used regular All Purpose flour instead of bread flour, and they turned out fine. I cut the recipe in half and prepared the dough in my bread machine. I used a stove-top cast-iron "grill," and made them without garlic and added it to the butter while on the grill. The bread was tender and delicious. My son loved it, and it went well with the Hummus III recipe and fresh veggies. Thanks, Mic!

I really liked this recipe, instead of brushing with regular butter I brushed with garlic butter and that made them extra good. I did find the bread was a bit too sweet for my taste so the next time I will reduce the sugar to a tablespoon.

I made this recipe because I went to the store looking for some and they were all out. I had just made hummus this morning and chips weren't gonna cut it. It did take a while to rise and I got a nap it so it was cool. I made these on the griddle. I wouldn't recommend rolling them thin, but shaping them by hand like you would do pizza dough. These things were sooooo good. Definitely a keeper. I might start using this as my pizza dough.

This recipe produced some really good naan. I didn't have a grill available, so I made 8 pieces (instead of 14) and baked them in an oven at 425F for 13 minutes. They came out great!

Excellent! This was so good! I didn't want to bother with my charcoal grill so I did as one reviewer suggested and cooked them on an open George Foreman grill. I did half garlic and half plain. Both were delicious! I will make this again and again. Regarding the rising issue that some have: I make yeast breads all the time, so I know how to proof the yeast, yet I also had an issue with this rising in an hour. I always use the slightly warm oven technique so I know it was warm enough. I could tell that it did rise a little, but not anywhere near how big my breads do normally. Instead of waiting longer to see if it rose more, I just continued on with the recipe. It turned out wonderfully. So no worries if it doesn't rise completely to double! (Though if it has no rise at all, then I would probably redo it.)

I would have to have the most fussiest 7 year old on the face of this beautiful planet of ours and he absolutely looovvved this naan. I am over the moon. I made mine using my bread maker as I loathe using my fingers with dough. I needed to add more water and didn't read the instructions properly so added the 55g of butter with the rest of the ingredients and it is buuuuuuutttiful. Thank you so much. This recipe will be passed on to so many people down here in Australia. Kindest regards, Rita.

One of my new favorites! Used garlic salt instead of salt and cooked them on the stovetop griddle I use for pancakes perfect, turn oven on to 200 and then turned it off kept them warm till we were ready to eat. Made with Chicken Tikka Masala and yellow saffron rice, perfect combination! Thanks Mic

Absolutely delicious! Thank you very much for this recipe. I used other user’s suggestions: crushed garlic into the butter instead of kneading it into the dough, rolled dough really thin and kept grill closed while cooking. It came out perfect with many bubbles. I will try George Forman grill in the winter, for now regular grill worked fine. I had to play a little finding the best position/temperature on my grill. Otherwise, it was amazing.

awesome. my husband wanted naan and i was doubtful i could find a good and easy recipe...yet, here it is! i have made this twice, and both times, it turned out great. instead of cooking on the grill, i just fry it on the stove. i also love these with cinnamon and sugar, and some cream cheese for dip :)

I was skeptical about this recipe, because it just didn't sound right. The naan were good, but my husband and I both decided it tasted and had the consistency of pizza bread rather than any authentic naan we have had. Great taste, easy to make, but not what I would call authentic. I'll be trying another recipe which includes ghee and yogurt next time.

Delicious! Tastes as good as any Indian restaurant. Make sure to proof the yeast first. Try adding other ingredients instead of garlic like the restaurants do. Such as mint naan, sesame seed, etc.
