A super recipe for a great chili base. Not too hot, but not bland at all!

I used Michelle's recipe for our Boy Scout Klondike outing. I made enough for 30 mouths and they all wanted more. Even the kids who don't like chili wanted more. I made no changes. I am a chili nut and loved the simplicity of this highly versitile recipe. Great job Michelle. mick6008

Good basic recipe. I used 1 lb. of ground beef and doubled the beans. It turned out fine.

I'm sooo glad I found this recipe! It's simply a great pot of chili, without a bunch of dressing up. The flavor is wonderful, and I've never had leftovers (more's the pity!)I've used this recipe with turkey, beef, even venison, and if you need to feed alot of people on a shoestring, grab a box of crackers and make a double batch. I guarantee you'll have rave reviews!

The great thing about this recipe, you can alter it according to your tastes. We like beans so I doubled the amount of beans but drained the liquid so the chili would remain thick. I also didn't have fresh garlic and onions on hand so I used dried and it still tasted fine. As it's cooking you can add more of anything to adjust it to your liking.

This is a good, basic chili. Easy to make and tasty. If you're wanting to make something simple, start here and you can slowly start adding and experimenting to make it your own. My mom doesn't really like chili, but she enjoyed this. It makes a great topper to pasta also.

Enjoyed this recipe! I too added way more chili power and even threw in a packet of chili seasoning. Really was simple and yummy. Thanks!

Our family loved this recipe...even the kids. Rather than plain chili powder, I used The Spice Hunter brand's "Chili Powder Blend" which has cocoa powder, cumin, cinnamon and cloves, among other things. I really think that added a great flavor. I also used S&W brand Mexican seasoned stewed tomatoes. Delicious! One more thing,...I added my kidney beans in with the tomatoes rather than waiting an hour and it turned out fine.

I like my chili spicy and thick. This was bland and a little soupy. My husband didnt like it either and he'll eat anything. I will stick to my old recipe. thanks anyway.

This was so easy and everyone said that it was perfectly seasoned so that it was not too spicy but just right! The only thing I did changed was that I added about 5 more tablespoons of chili powder because some reviews mentioned it being bland...this seemed to give it just the right amount of kick it needed! My 11 year old raved about it!! This is a keeper!

This was a great chili recipe! Try it if you're looking for a normal, fast & simple chili recipe. A friend of mine who can be pretty hard to please said this is now his favorite chili recipe! I added 1 tsp cumin and 1/2 tsp ground white pepper. Delicious!

A wonderful basic chili. Not very spicy. I used chuck steak instead of ground beef. Also, I added the onions at the same time as the tomatoes.

Great Chili! I had never made chili before. I did cut out one can of tomato sauce and added a bit of paprika. Use a potato masher to crush the tomatoes easier. I searved it with sour cream, green onions, shredded cheddar cheese, and cornbread twists. I quadrupled the recipe and cooked it in a nesco for my daughters first birthday party. There was none left!
