As the description states, this is a good, basis chili recipe, and it doesn't take long to make. Other than halving the recipe, I followed the ingredient list and directions exactly. It was cool to be able to begin making this chili 15 minutes before kickoff and be eating it by 3rd quarter. (There were a lot of time outs. :) The only thing that gave this 4 stars instead 5 was the fact that because this recipe was so quick and didn't include a lot of ingredients, the depth of flavor that I prefer in a great chili was missing. It is what it is, and I will continue to use this as a "quick and easy" chili recipe.

Simple, quick and yummy! If you don't want to be in the kitchen before dinner, you can easily put this recipe in your crock pot! The leftovers are good and it freezes well, too! Very good on a cold night!

Great chili, everyone loved it!! Used 1 pound of beef instead of 2 and added 2 extra cans of beans drained. Turned out great...the kids liked it with fritos. Thank you for a great recipe

Excellent starter recipe! Very easy to modify by adding any little extras you might personally enjoy. My husband and I like a little more heat to our chili so we chopped up several green chilis and cooked them up with the burger. We also added a couple of tsps of cayene pepper and several dashes of Louisiana hot sauce which gave the chili a very subtle tang under the heat. I also add a second can of beans minus the juice as we like a few more beans as well. Will definitely make again. We loved it! :)

I have made this chili several times and it is always a big hit. So easy to make for a chili and it's even better after sitting in the fridge for a day. I top mine with sour cream, cheese and green onion.

I didn't want to try a new chili recipe but my husband was insistent on trying something different. So he made this, and it was awesome. The only thing we did different is used 2 cans of diced tomatoes instead of two of the stewed tomatoes.

This was my first attempt at homemade chili, and it was excellent! It wasn't too spicy for my little ones, and I did increase the chili powder as well. I might add some cumin next time.

One of the best chili recipes I have found in a long time...Didn't have garlic cloves, so just used garlic powder. I also halved recipe, as I am the only person in my house who will eat chili! Turned out delicious..

Made this in a pinch. Didn't change a thing. It was perfect as is, and super quick. Now I crockpot it. I serve with cornbread and a salad.

This was such a simple recipe. I used two cans of kidney beans, and substituted 2 cans of stewed tomatos for two diced w/ pepper as suggested by a previous rater. I love it.

I was looking for a recipe that didn't have noodles, potatos, beer, cola, etc. Just a good chili, and this was it. The only modification I made was using more beans than the original called for. Excellent!

This chili recipe was just okay. I would never make it again. It didn't have enough flavor to it.

Finally, a good chili recipe!! I only had 2 cans of stewed tomatoes, and that was plenty. I also added an extra can of red beans and a bottle of dark beer. I'm sure it would have been really good without the changes, too!

This recipe makes a really good pot of chili! I would recommend using a good quality chili powder. I also blend the tomatoes in the food processor so the kids don't have any "chunks" and add an extra can of beans to the pot. We love it! Thank you.

I did not make this exactly as written so maybe I should not rate this. But bottom line is...I liked this recipe. I added the spices we like and doubled the beans and it turned out great. Thank you.

I add green pepper, a bit of celery and cumin and cinnamon to the chili. Otherwise this is a great starter recipe for making chili. Thank-you.

This was a hit at my Superbowl party!! I changed 2 cans of the stewed tomatoes to diced tomatoes. 1 with jalepenos and 1 with chiles. This gave a little kick. I also added another can of the red beans because of other reviews. (I think next time I will try draining though)I used about a tablespoon more of chile powder too. Awesome!!
