This is probably the best soup I've ever tasted! I was a little unsure when I was making it, and even the smell threw me off a bit, but it tastes wonderful! My boyfriend LOVES this soup, and asks for it all the time. The only thing I really changed was that I added more curry (I love it spicy!) and used paste instead of powder because that was all I had. Yum yum!

This soup was amazing! I didn't have any celery so I just added extra onion. Turned out great! My husband LOVED it!

I never thought apple, onion, chicken & milk could be combined to equal something tasty! I used onions that I had diced in my food processor otherwise the diced ones would have been too big in the soup at the end. Shredded carrot better than diced ones. Omitted the flour. Used all of the curry spice (any less would have had no flavor). I left the skin on half of the red apple that I used. Omitted the white rice (used Orzo pasta instead), used full milk instead of heavy cream, and one(or two) chicken bouillon cubes with 4 cups of water instead of chicken broth.I sauteed the chicken in butter 1st, then took out, sauteed the carrots, onions, & celery a little then added water & chicken cube then followed the recipe as written. Oh btw, make sure you heat the milk in the microwave before adding it to the pot. Edited 9-9-09: have since tried it with rice, i like it with orzo more. Also, I make it with canned chicken broth & have found it tasty.

Very tasty. I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out very thick, more like a stew. I ended up adding more than a cup of water towards the end of cooking it in order to make it a bit more soup-like.

5 stars = The Best! I get cravings for this soup at least once a week, I can bribe husband to cross off his honey-do list with this soup! I make as is with no adjustments, except I double, even triple the recipe!!

Great soup, very similar to those I've tried in Bangladeshi restaurants. This is definitely a thick, hearty stew-like soup with vegetables, rice, chicken. I had to add a bit more pepper and cayenne to kick it up a notch- otherwise followed the recipe to the T. P.s. heavy cream is completely unnecessary, as stated by several other reviewers.

This is really good. But I due suggest that you only put in a 1/4 of a cup of rice. I thought a little more would be good but you need to add more water and about 10 mins more to the cooking time. If you want something thick and not a soup add a cup of rice but if you would like some broth only add what is suggested.

Really good soup! Though I did make a few changes. I pureed the veggies before adding the chicken because that's how i've always had it. Definatly a keeper!

Based on the reviews, I went ahead and doubled the recipe. I'm glad I did. This soup tastes very good and is easy to make. The first night, I forgot to add the cream and enjoyed it very much anyway. The second night, I added cream as instructed in the recipe. It was good, but I liked it better without the cream. Even my family members that only like "normal" food enjoyed this soup. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Love it! This is my 2nd time making soup and I find this really easy and fun to do. I'm also on a diet and I followed MSBLUERASP's review and it was superb! I did as she/he said except that I've used garbanzo bean (aka chickpeas) instead of potatoes and omitted the sour cream. I've also added 2 large button mushroom(diced) into the soup and added 1 beaten egg and stir it lightly.(It looks a lil like egg drop soup though)Anyway,I added the egg just to hike up more protein in my diet. Anyway, good recipe! Will make again ;)

My husband loves mulligatawny soup and Indian food. He was skeptical that this recipe would taste like what he was accustomed to having at his favorite Indian restaurants. Due to his pickiness we ommitted the celery, carrot, and apple from the recipe. He was surprised that this recipe called for chicken. In the end, he loved the soup and is asking that I make it regularily. Next time I will double the recipe as it only made about 3-4 servings rather than the 6 that it suggested. I would also add either a little water or additional chicken broth to liquidfy it a little more. It was pretty thick...but delicious!

For goodness sake don't put raw rice in the soup or you'll end up with just a big pot of curry rice!

Amazing! Definitely wouldn't serve 6 as written--especially not when it's this good! I doubled the curry and put in a bit more rice as suggested by other reviewers and I'm glad I did both. I think I'll put double the chicken in next time, too.
