Directions

  1. In medium bowl, stir together salsa ingredients.
  2. In another medium bowl, place avocados; coarsely mash. Stir in remaining guacamole ingredients. Spoon guacamole into shallow serving bowl; top with salsa.
  3. Serve with tortilla chips as desired.

  • Did You Know? Look for avocados that are firm, but yield to gentle pressure. If they are not quite ripe, place avocados in a paper bag, and let ripen at room temperature.

This is the guacamole recipe I make all the time. The canned tomatoes taste just as good, if not better, than regular tomatoes. I double the lime and the hot sauce to get a stronger flavor. Also, I make the guacamole and salsa separately, then mix them together in the end. I recommend using a red onion--I tried it with a regular onion once, and it was too strong.

Excellent recipe. Made this recipe and Alton Brown's gaucamole recipe, this one won out. The fire roasted tomatoes add a lot of flavor. Also, it make a very attractive presentation for guacamole

I can't vouch for the salsa part, as I didn't make it, but I really liked the way the guacamole came out! Great simple recipe- just what I was looking for!

Wonderful salsa! My DH likes my other guacamole recipe better, but the fire roasted salsa was a big hit here, and my guys know their tex-mex. They devoured a good third of this between just two of them. My teen was eating it by the spoonful. My DH said it was perfect for dipping with the tortilla chips. I used the whole tomatoes, a big can, i think it was 28 oz.? and just smashed them with a fork. I figured it equalled the smaller can of diced by then. Next time I'll use a different guacamole recipe and the salsa from this. My family definitely wants this again!
