I used 3 T sugar AND 3T cinnamon to roll the cookies in because I like cinnamon.

These cookies were so delicious and so easy to make. It was my first time ever making cookies from scratch and I will be making these snickerdoodles again. I also used baking powder instead of cream of tartar never have it on hand but the substitution was perfect.

I took these to a cookie exchange and they got rave reviews. They were really good. The cookies were a slightly puffy. I did not have cream of tartar and used 3 tsp. vinegar in the first batch and 2 tsp. vinegar in the second batch and I think the second batch turned out a little better. I also baked them 9 minutes because the 8 minutes was a little too underdone for my taste. I will make these again for sure!

The BEST snickerdoodles!! The only thing I do differently is roll them in brown sugar & cinnamon instead of white.

I guess I was expecting a lot out of this cookie after reading all the great reviews. I´m making christmas cookies for a bake sale and although they taste good, they did not make the final cut. My dad liked them ok, but he agrees they´re a bit too simple.

Just baked these this afternoon to bring in to work - I work in a cancer hospital pharmacy and shared the cookies with the doctors and nurses. Trust me, once they have a good cookie, word spreads. They were gone within an hour and I even had some overnight nurses disappointed that they missed out. I followed the recipe exactly except I followed the idea to toss the cookie dough balls in a bag of sugar/cinnamon mixture and baked at 375 for 8 min EXACT (1 min later and they started to burn). So easy to make! Thank you!

This recipe really is fantastic! I didn't have shortening on hand, so I substituted butter. I also didn't have cream of tartar, so I substituted 4 teaspoons of baking powder and left out the baking soda. I baked them for 7 minutes. They were perfect! I can't say if they were any better than the original recipe because I haven't made it that way yet, but if you're in a bind and don't have those ingredients on hand, these subs still turned out 5 star cookies!

Good recipe, very very soft when they come out, the next day they were a bit too crunchy for me, I put some bread in the Tupperware and it helped out some. The key is a mix of butter and shortening!

Flavor was good, at first, the texture was very hard and crispy though. Nothing soft and chewy. The butter was right out of the fridge when I started mixing not room temp. I may try this again with warmer butter but probably not. They softened as the sat on the counter the next few days and we ended up liking them fairly well.

By far the best recipe i have found. Thanksgiving day I decided to try this recipe out. Everybody loved them. By sunday afternoon they were still almost as moist as they were out of the oven. I will be making these again for christmas

Where have these been all my life???? I have never heard of snickerdoodles before!!! I made these on Saturday - one batch and it made about 5 dozen cookies, it is now Monday morning and they are all gone!!! :) hubby and Jr absolutely hoovered them up! Thanks for the great recipe! Didn't change a thing and very easy to make...although I wonder why the cream of tartar is in them...I can't figure out it's purpose....

Very Good cookies, but too stale and crunchy, even immediately out of the oven.

These were fabulous! I had to refrigerate them before rolling (New Orleans weather) and used a plastic baggy for the cinna-sugar. Cooked for 8 minutes and let sit 1 minute on the pan before removing. I discovered my just-purchased flour had bugs so I had to use cake flour instead (with w 2 tbsp added for each cup all-purpose). They turned out great!
