I found this recipe to be VERY BLAND, LACKING FLAVOR and tasting like cream of mushroom soup. I made some of the recommended changes (sauting veggies, added carrots and used ritz crackers) and still found it to be a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT

Fabulous! I made it a little bit healthier by doubling the squash. It's great with any summer squash. I used crookneck, zucchini, patty pan, 8 ball, opo, and chinese silk squash in mine. Also, sharp cheddar and seasoned bread crumbs really bring out the flavor. Yummy!

Excellent! I ended up creating a cream of chicken base instead of using cream of mushroom soup. I also used bread crumbs instead of croutons on top since I did not have any on hand. Still game out great! I will definitely make this again!

Well I had a neighbor friend give us a lot of squash, I had no clue what to do with it all. Well I made this last night. My husband said it was the best thing of the whole dinner. I made it like it should of been made but added salt and pepper and garlic. But I do that with most of my cooking. I also mixed a few of the croutons in the mix. All in all I was suprised squash could taste so good!!

Excellent! I'm so happy to find a new way to make squash. I make it all the time and the whole family loves it!

We loved it. I sauted the veggies like some suggested & added fresh mushrooms. I cut back on the cheese & used only one egg. Also added one carrot. Instead of croutons, I used 3/4 cup ritz crackers.

We simply luh-uhved this dish. The only thing we did different was added a few pinches of garlic salt to the squash and onion mix(as recommended by other reviewers). Oh yeah, we made sure to drain it well afterwards(also recommended by other reviewers). Thanx JTJW. Cheers :o)

This was a good dish. I would classify it as a casserole, but it turned out great. Next time I would use fat free cheese because it was rather rich, and maybe low cal soup. Other then that it was was good.

Delicious- I didn't have any croutons so I used panko bread crumbs mixed with curls of parmigean cheese and this did provide the crunch.

Family loved this. Only suggestions would be drain squash VERY well or you get water in the bottom of casserole and I am going to mix the soup mixture with the squash mixture instead of just ladeling it over the top. It didn't make it all the way to the bottom on its own.

This was good though had to make changes because of not having mushroom soup on hand. Instead made a white sauce from 2 tbs. butter and 1/4 flour, liquid from small can of mushrooms & and little soy milk until it was the consistancy of canned soup, also added garlic and onion powder. Steamed the squash in the microwave for 5 minutes, twice, draining after each time heated. The squash was still a bit crunchy, and next time will try it for 15 min. in microwave. After putting steamed vegetables in baking dish, spread topping on top. Next time will mix in with the vegetables, as the flavor from sauce and cheese would have been throughout the dish. We did enjoy this and will make it again as posted.

This was great except for one thing. The croutons. Don't get me wrong I like croutons but on top of this otherwise perfectly good dish was just wrong. I think I'll make it again but instead try instant stuffing as one reviewer did or maybe crushed ritz crackers mixed with butter. But not croutons. Thanks. Kate

I use seasoned stuffing mix in mine instead of the croutons. To make this super easy, you can buy 2-3 cans (depending on how squashy you want it to taste) of squash with vidalia onions already included in the can.

A neighbor had brought us a bunch of squash, and I was getting a little tired of stir-frying it. I tried this recipe, and lo and behold, even my picky kids liked it! I don't like mushrooms, so I used cream of celery soup instead. This was a delicious way to get my kids to eat squash. We got two meals out of it, too!
