Yum! I served this with Breyer's vanilla ice cream. The crust is great. I used brown sugar and pure vanilla in the apple mixture. Also substituted brown sugar in the dough mix 3/4 an then the other 1/4 I used all natural Hawaiian sugar. I also added vanilla to the top of the dough with the cinnamon...very good.

I prefer Apple Crisp to have oatmeal, it gives it a nicer texture, but it still was pretty good.

My daughter invited us and made this recipe for dessert. I was a little leary when I saw her dump a cup of water, but I have to say that this was the best apple crisp (more like a cobler) I ever had. I will certainly make this for my guests.

I did not think this was that great, and will continue my search in apple crisps. I added more apples as I wanted to use up what I had on hand (8)and also sprinkled in some nutmeg. The apples were mush by the time to top even began to brown, and there was SO much water left the apples were swimming. I ended up draining off this water. We'll see how it is tomorrow.

WOW! This was yummy! I used brown sugar instead of white, cut it in half, & only 3/4c. of water..... I think if the apples are juicy, you can use less water. I also threw 1/4 c oatmeal into the topping, it came out really good.

My sister and I made this apple crisp. We started making it and on accident we added the sugar, the flour, some of the cinnamon, the apples and the baking powder into one bowl! Then we asked our mom what to do and she said that we should just put in the rest of the ingredients. We put everything in and it still turned out like a yummy apple cake!

This is so delicious!!! I followed other people recommendations and used less sugar. But also i think you should add less water because it comes out so gooy afterward. But other than that it was so good!!!!

This turned out just as the recipe said. It wasn't the crunchy oatmeal topping I am used to. Just as delicious, though!

Way too sweet. Cut sugar in half. Otherwise not bad. Not my favorite apple crisp, but not bad.

Flavor was great with this recipe, although I found the whole cup of water used at the end of the recipe left my apples swimming in the bottom of the dish. I think next time I will use less water. I also loooove cooking spices, so I added ginger and nutmeg to the crisp topping, and it was yummy!!!

There wasn't anything 'crispy' about this recipe. It DID taste good, but it just wasn't the texure I was after. I was hoping for a more traditional crunchy topping, but this one is more like cobbler. It should be called Apple Cobbler.

I was looking for a way to use extra apples and came across this recipe, it's a winner! Using tart apples gives it a lemony flavor. My family loved it. I wanted to eat the whole dish by myself.

This was a very easy dish to make and it tastes fantastic. I cut the sugar in half and it was still more than sweet enough.
