I actually think this is better than McDonalds Mocha Frappe, which I'm totally addicted to. I like that I can control what I add to it as well. I substituted Splenda sugarblend (1/2 cup) and used all non-fat ingredients for milk products. Loved it!!!

WOW! Wasn't sure what to expect - could it really be as good as Mickey Ds? I wondered! Well, yes it is! I used the 1/3c coffee as suggested by other posts - I used a spice grinder for to grinder the coffee to fine (worked wonderfully!), and I made my mix with Splenda - the 3/4c suggested by another poster. I used milk this time - just because the original recipe called for milk. I'll try water next time. HOWEVER, I did have to add a bit more milk to get the consistency I wanted. I figured the calories made with splenda to 120 calories per 1/2dry mix - that is without counting the milk! Still WOW! Love calories Heaven! Thanks Susan Beck! I can't wait to share this recipe! Thanks!

This is good - I use more instant coffee for more coffee flavor, and use water instead of milk. If you do that, and use splenda, fat free creamer, it comes out to about 58 cals/serving - great for hot summer days like today!!!

Added a little Starbucks coffee to the mix and it's almost the same as a Frap!

All I have to say is OMG this is wonderful! SO close to the McD's frappe it is crazy. I added some International vanilla caramel powder to the mix, just because my daughter wanted to, just a couple tablespoons and I will be making this probably too much!

I used 1 1/2 cups of Swiss Miss Hot chocolate mix instead of powder milk and creamer. It was great. The next time I tried Ovaltine Classic Malt mix (instead of powder milk)and the powder creamer and that is a hit also. To make it less calories I put 1 cup of Splenda instead of sugar and that is good too.

All I can say is "God Bless You Susan Beck"!!!! I can't waite to share this with my friends at work today - we all love Mickey D's frappe's - now we can make them lower cal. and cheap!! I did add a bit extra coffee with half sugar and half Splenda - FAB!! 6/18/11 Conclusion: after making this several times already - I am now using 1/3 c. coffee - S.F. creamer & all "Stevia in the raw" - so much better for you than Splenda. With that said - 1/2 cup mix is aprox. 98 calories!! I've also been using water instead of milk - enjoying it just as much as with milk. TOTALY HOOKED!!

*** Update 6/17/11: In case anyone's wondering - this does not work with regular coffee grounds. It has to be instant coffee. *** I have personally tested three different McDonald's Mocha Frappe copycat recipes. This is the closest I've found. If you want it to be more like McDonalds', substitute water for the 1/2 cup milk when blending the drink. After studying the ingredients in McDonalds' mix (they use a pre-made liquid mix and simply blend it with crushed ice), I think the main differences between this recipe and their mix is that McD's mix uses real cream instead of dried creamer and coffee extract instead of instant coffee. (Coffee extract meaning the concentrated liquid extract, similar to vanilla extract -- however, much harder to find). I think without using the real cream and coffee extract this is about as close to McDs' as I'm gonna get! And to be honest, it's really good. After testing it out, I'm gonna make up a big batch and keep it on hand. Just wanted to let those McD's Mocha Frappe addicts like me know how this one stacks up! In other news, I've drank three whole frappes tonight testing this stuff out and I'll be lucky if I see any sleep tonight. Haha! Good thing tomorrow is a holiday! :)

Our family just loves these! I quadrupled the recipe and put it in an empty canister & scoop w/directions on top and we've been enjoying these as a special treat just like from McDonalds (topped w/canned whipped cream and a drizzle of Hershey's chocolate syrup). The kids just love them! Thank you for saving us the $3.00/each we were paying at McDonalds!
