These brownies were good, but not the best. I really enjoyed them, but I was expecting it to be better. I will double the recipe next time. Thanks!

I didn't care for these but hubby did. I used the melted butter suggestion, cut back on sugar by 1/2C . For me, they were too dry. I'll try again using 1/2 the butter and use some applesauce as well to moisten em' up.

AMAZING RECIPE! Definitely my families tried and tested brownie recipe. Whenever someone requests brownies, I whip these ones up and they're a hit. Fudgy, Chewy, chocolatey and amazing. Thanks so much for this recipe! x

These turned out great. I used less cocoa than the recipe called for. I used 1/4 c. but I think that was still a little too much so I'm going to use 3 T. next time. I baked these in a foil lined 8" baking pan that had been sprayed with non stick cooking spray. They'd be too thin baked in a 9" pan. I baked them on 375° in a toaster oven for exactly 17 minutes. :-)

These were very good, my husband approves! I am so proud to have made homemade brownies that were better than the box mix! I will be making them like this from now on.

This is the recipe I've been using to bake brownies for well over a decade now, even before I attended culinary school! I notice the latest reviewer complained about the gritty taste of the sugar in the product. I suggest she try either butter or if she wants to cut out butterfat in her diet, use a 1/4 cup of butter and make the rest vegetable oil, or stick to all vegetable oil, but do the following anyway: Microwave it for 1-2 minutes or until it melts(or oil is warmed). Add the sugar to the warm/hot butter/oil, and this melts the sugar. Better yet, try honey! I've also taken out as much as a half cup of sugar out of the recipe, and it works fine. Microwaving or heating the oil causes the sugar to melt slightly, and if she uses a wire whisk to mix, it can also help to blend the butter, sugar and eggs together more smoothly. Don't ever give up on a recipe after one try, because it's not a fair assessment of it. Anything can cause a recipe to "fail" (the temps outside, the oven too hot/cool, not familiar with the recipe) in the first try. I urge her to try again, and maybe try some of my tips.

I did not enjoy these brownies. I followed the recipe exactly, but the brownies came out tasting way too sugary. I couldn't enjoy the chocolatey-ness which I look forward to enjoying when I bite into a brownie. The only reason I put 2 stars instead of 1 is that the texture did come out quite nice: nice and crispy on top but gooey at the bottom. I wouldn't make this again unless I had to, and even then I wouldn't put so much sugar in it.

I didn't think anything could be better than Ghirardelli box brownies, but these really are so much better! My boyfriend was impressed. Took the advice of other reviewers and subbed melted butter for the oil and that made them taste extra rich. Also added a handful of choco chips. There's another recipe on here, "Best Brownies", that is identical to this one except it has frosting - based on how these taste, I'd say frosting would be gilding the lily. These brownies come out rich, chocolately, and chewy, and the only thing I would change next time is to make a double batch! Thanks, Sarah, for a great recipe I'll make again and again.

These were SO good! I made a batch for a party a couple of days ago. The only things I changed was that I doubled the recipe and added semi-sweet chips instead of walnuts (used vegetable oil from the original recipe). Since it was doubled, I put it in a 9x13 pan and baked for 35 mins like a reviewer suggested. The brownies were devoured within the hour! Everyone kept commenting on how wonderful they were! Thanks Sarah!

These are pretty good. I prefer a box mix for fudgier brownies, but these will do in a pinch. They're very quick and easy to throw together with ingredients I always have on hand. This will be my go to recipe when I'm out of the box mix.

Brilliant recipe!! Simple and forgiving. I only had 1/4c cocoa on hand so added more choc chips and it was excellent. Fast to whip together and bakes up with the fudgey texture. Thanks!!

Wow! Every recipe for brownies i have tried is awful, but this is a really good recipe. The brownies were very moist and chewy. I added 1 tsp. cinnamon and a pinch of cloves and nutmeg. It really brings out the chocolate flavor. I poured the batter into the pan and topped it with chopped pecans, then patted it down lightly with a fork, and baked it for about 15 min. Awesome recipe! Kudos!!!!!

Too cake-like and hardly any chocolate/fudge flavor at all. You can really taste the butter if you used 1/2 cup of butter instead of oil. 1/2 cup of chocolate chips gave it more flavor, in my opinion. These were OK but I don't think I'll make the again.
