1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
2 egg whites
5 tablespoons water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon raisins
4 ounces toasted almonds
10 ounces toasted pecans
20 red and green maraschino cherries (optional)
I served it for company the first time I made it - absolutely delicious!!! The icing doesn't always come out exactly (i.e. doesn't always stand in 'peaks') but if all else fails I just drizzle it over the cake and let it harden.
THIS TURNED OUT GREAT! MY FAMILY GOT A BIG KICK OUT OF IT, MY HUSBAND'S GREAT GRANDMA'S NAME WAS MINNEHAHA!
