48 (3 inch) tart shells, baked
1 (14 ounce) package individually wrapped caramels
3 tablespoons coffee-flavored liqueur
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1/4 cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup evaporated milk
OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!! These send everyone into cookie nirvana!!! My boss made these years ago, and would NOT give the recipe!!! This is it!! Thank you soooooooo much for sharing!!!!!
Not very good. The caramel part was good, but the frosting was a disaster. The sugar never dissolved and the frosting just tased like a blob of greasy fat with granulated sugar in it. I tried to salvage mine by adding some powdered sugar. Will not make this with the original frosting again. Not sure what else I would pair with the caramel. Very disappointed.

These cookies are wonderful! I made them for two different weddings and they were the first cookies to go! They may take a little bit of time to make, but they are definitely worth it!
These were very tasty...although a little heavy on the liquer flavor for me...
I love these, I know someone that makes these, but would'nt share the recipe. I searched every where for this recipe, but thanks to you, I now have it. Thank you so much!!!
did not like them
I think this is the recipe I've been looking for! It was a school dessert that I loved. I hope it's the one has anyone taken any photos so it can be confirmed, and does the toffee/caramel stay soft and gooie? Thanks
