Quick and easy. From the look of the bag, I thought the popcorn would be greasy, but it was perfect.

It didn't work well for me. I placed the popcorn into a Trader Joes heavy brown. I had to keep on adding a couple of more minutes to the cooking time , as the kernals were not popping. Some did pop. Eventually, I took all the popped popcorn out of the bag and dumped the rest of the unpopped kernals into a heated pot with about 3 tbsp. oil to pop it completely. After all of the popcorn popped, i sprayed it with PAM and sprinkled it with salt. I was a bit disappointed that it didnt work for me - as it is much easier to clean up a microwave popcorn recipe than a potted popcorn recipe. I might give it one more shot, using a thinner brown lunch bag.

What a great idea! This tastes just like stove top popcorm without the pan to wash afterwards. Highly recommend for a quick snack.

This recipe has a lot of potential! I didn't use any oil, just popcorn in a paper bag. I folded the bag over & stood it upright per other reviewer's suggestion. The bag ended up falling over anyway & the closed end of the bag was torn open by the popping kernels. I stopped the microwave early as a result, but was still surprised by how few unpopped kernels were left, no burned kernels, and no funky popcorn smell! It tasted great! Next time I will double bag & believe me, there will be a next time. : )

I am enjoying this right now. I have a powerful microwave and have tried 2 min. at full power and 2 1/2 min at power level 9. Both times I only had a few unpopped kernels and no problem with burning. I will play around with the butter salt flavouring. Thanks for sharing this recipe. Great idea!

I am happy to report this turned out fantastic ! I used olive oil and a teas. of butter flavored seasoning (on the 2nd batch to try it, great!) stirred in the oil, and placed the bag upright. I did 2--1/2 min. afraid to go longer, but next time I'll use a little less popcorn/oil, was nervous the bag would over flow or burn. Popcorn was crispy and very delicious !!!

This was GREAT! I made this for the boys and I last night, crossing my fingers that it turned out so they wouldn't be disappointed. I added a little sugar to make it more like Kettle Korn and I took other reviewers suggestions and kept the popcorn bag upright. What a surprize! Microwave popcorn at home without that disgusting chemical smell! Who knew?

Very good! I love popcorn but like knowing what is in it instead of buying the prepackaged microwave stuff with all the preservatives and didn't want to take up more counter/cabinet space with an air popper. This recipe worked great. I used olive oil and stood the bag upright in the microwave. It came out perfectly.

Not only is this recipe easy and economical, it makes excellent popcorn! I've gotten many rave reviews from others who want to know my "secret". Additionaly, I feel good about serving this wholesome version of popcorn to my family and avoiding the chemicals in microwave store bought popcorn. Thanks so much for this wonderful recipe.

I had my doubts about this. I had to toss the first batch because it was overdone. I used just shy of 1/2 cup of popcorn and just over a tablespoon of oil. I used popcorn topping oil in the bag and popcorn salt for it's finer grain. Turned out really well. I'm always amazed at what I can find on the internet. Overall I give it a 5 because this is such a great find. I think next time I'll just do it in 2 batches so it gets done with out having the extra kernels or overdoneness. Thanks!

It is amazing. We have been trying making our popcorn from popcorn popper and it never came out right. We live in Thailand and microwave popcorn are expensive here. My husband is about to give up making his own popcorn and ready to buy microwave one as our popcorn from popcorn popper always come out chewy. Then we found this recipe and gave it a try. We did not think it will work. But it works perfect. It is easy. No clean up like popcorn popper and it comes out great.

Really good, fast & easy! Way better then store bought micro popcorn. I put mine in the micro for 2 minutes and it was perfect. A little salt and butter and movie night was set!

I didn't use oil and cut a larger grocery size bag. I stayed at the microwave, and good thing. The bag started to burn. It would have caught on fire if I wasn't there. SO, I think I will buy smaller bags, and obviously put it on for a shorter period of time. About 2 minutes. I did not use oil. The kernels that didn't burn were good though! This will be fun to experiment with as far as flavor goes.

Made this for the first time yesterday using olive oil but next time (and there will be many times) I will try without oil as some reviews state they have had success with that. I would rather add 1 tsp EVOO after it cooks for more flavor, if necessary. I will skip the salt in the bag as I had to add more afterward anyway. Lots of fiber, very filling, low fat (esp without the oil), made a ton, inexpensive, no chemicals or cardboard taste (like packaged micro popcorn), and no packaging in the landfill. No downside to this recipe! Total bag = 6 WW points made according to recipe

This is my new favorite snack. I found that it took 2 minutes to cook mine, all microwaves are different. At 2 minutes there are quite a few kernels left unpoped but any longer and the corn burns. You just have to adjust to your microwave. It beats the boughten kind hands down!!! We add garlic salt or lawreys seasoned salt to ours. A great use for those 200+ lunch sacks that I had to buy for 1 or 2 being used. Great recipe! I always love to find the homemade way to do something.

We've been doing this for years with a couple minor changes. First, we've always use olive oil which is not only healthier but adds a wonderful flavor. Second, we fold the top of the bag over just once and put one staple in the middle. This allows steam to get out without the top popping open (pun intended). The staple is so small we've never had any problems with sparking or whatever. I've also experimented with adding in a fresh jalapano pepper or some chopped garlic so it is never blah. One last thing, get some popcorn salt, it is much finer than table salt and works so much better. I can't imagine buying MW popcorn with all the additives plus costing $1 per bag or more! Enjoy!!
