Great rice, my little one loved it. Next time I will cut back on the salt a bit and add more Frank's red hot.

great recipe-tastes just like mexican restaurant. dont worry about the rice puffing, brown it and throughout the cooking process, it all works out. one suggestion--- use a little less water- it's hard to dry it out to get it fluffy with the amount of water the recipe calls for. try it!

My family really liked this! I've been searching for a recipe that is close to the Mexican rice we order at our local Mexican restaurant and this is the best I've found. I did need to add a little salt. Great side dish!

Great standby recipe to get away from buying the convenience packaged option. Had everything on had to make. Next time I will reduce the garlic salt as this was very salty.

This rice was delicious. I had basmati rice on hand, so that's what I used. I made a little mistake and added the tomato sauce while the pan was too hot. I got splashed but it still turned out great! Thanks for the recipe!

Never realized how simple it was to make. Just like eating at a restoraunt. Doubled the cumin because I love the flavor.

YAY!! I have finally found the recipe I've been looking for. No more Mexican flavored Rice-A-Roni (sorry kido). This was so easy, cheap, and DELICIOUS! I added more cumin, i cant get enough of that spice, and used chicken bullion instead of broth (cheaper). Its a tad too salty so next time i will use garlic powder instead of garlic salt. I doubled it and Im so glad i did. This is going to make an excellent burrito filler for later this week.

Good basic recipe. Rice took atleast 45 minutes on low to cook completely. I also thought it was a little bland, added some taco seasoning to taste.

I love Mexican flavours and this was great. I sautéed onions and garlic first before adding the rice. I also add a tex-mex seasoning. On the final product, MUST put some sour cream on top - it completes the dish. I had this with salsa chicken on this site - great pair!

My rice did not puff either. This recipe had much less taste than I thought all the work and ingredients would have put in to it. I was trying to make a nice side dish for tacos, but this was not it. It's not bad, but it's not that tasty. It's pretty bland. I'll try another mexican rice recipe next time!

I decided to try this recipe since it had cumin in it--and I like cumin. My rice did not puff either, but I just kept going with the recipe, and the rice did cook perfectly. However, I couldn't taste the cumin and found the dish rather bland. My husband's remedy for any dish not reaching par is to add a big tablespoon of butter. This I did and it helped.

This rice tasted great, hence the 4 star review, but mine came out super sticky. I followed the recipe pretty closely, except I sauted onion and garlic first and then skipped the garlic salt, and used chicken broth instead of water. Like I said, the flavor was great, but I think having to bring the liquid to a boil with the rice, instead of adding the rice to boiling water, made the rice very sticky. I made it for company and everyone had seconds, so it wasn't a big deal, it just wasn't exactly what I was expecting. I would make it again though, especially if I could figure out a way to change the consistency.

I was surprised how really good this was; being so quick and simple to make. My 14 yr old picky eater made it by herself exactly per the recipe. She isn't known to be a rice eater at all. She doesn't cook normally either but got grounded by mom and favored me that evening. She ate 3 helpings. This will be a staple for mexican meals at our house.

For years I wondered how to make this type of mexican rice that had the right balance of all flavors, and this rice has it. Tastes great, pretty easy to make, hmmm... good..
