Followed the recipe except for the dried fruits and pecans (since I didn't have any on hand), but I love it, my 2 yo daughter loves it too! Especially a good topping for yogurts! Thanks for the recipe!

This was great! I made it today. I followed the recipe with a few exceptions. I used flax meal for the wheat germ since we are allergic to wheat. I replaced the walnuts with cashews. I didn't have maple syrup, so I used a bit more honey and I used 1 cup of brown sugar. After it was done baking, I pressed it into the pan while it cooled. This gave me some great clumps! I think next time I might add some pecan halves as well as the finely chopped pecans. My son, who is SUCH a picky eater and hates nuts really likes it! Yay!

This has become my families favorite granola. I omitted a few of the ingredients that they don't care for, but it still turned out wonderful. We also eat it like cereal with milk.

Made this with a few tweeks like everyone else. Combination of what you have on hand and what your tastes are. Flax Seed is necessary to me. Cooked it much longer than recipe (didn't read the reviews). But this is very forgiving. Good flavor. Not too sweet. Absolutely amazing!

I get lots of recipes off this site but have never sent a review. This one deserves it. Loved the recipe and loved all the comments about substitutions and cautions about over-cooking. It definitely crisps up after baking! Another tip is to just stir in your fruit each time you serve - if you do that the granola will stay crisper when you keep it in your airtight container for storing.

Be careful not to over cook. It isn't crunchy straight out of the oven, but it crips up as it cools. I made about 1/4 of a batch just to see how it would turn out and it was really good. However 20 min was actually a little bit too long for this reduced amount of granola - it was a little burned but still tasty. I also added the craisins and some shredded coconut a few minutes before baking was complete.

Really wonderful granola. I didn't have any sunflower seeds or pecans. The cinnamon and maple syrup added a nice touch of flavor.

This recipe is ridiculously good! My whole family (not one of us big granola fans) loved it. I made it because we are going on a long road trip and wanted a healthy snack for all of us. I decided to try this recipe and am so glad I did!! I only used 1/4 cup honey and then 1 cup maple syrup and the listed amount of brown sugar and it was perfect. It was just sweet enough for us. Also, use the 1 Tbsp of cinnamon and vanilla. It adds so much - I also have mixed and matched the fruit, nuts, and seeds that I used. The only warning is this recipe makes a HUGE amount. Given how good it is, that was a good thing for my family.

Wonderful 'base' recipe. This one is definitely a keeper. I also tweaked a bit. I omitted the sunflower and maple syrup and I added as other suggested the coconut oil instead of veg. oil. I also added dried banana chips and pineapple along with the cranberries. I bet anything you add to this would be good in many variations. Thank you Annie9!

LOVED this recipe. Loads better than store bought, and a breeze to make. I used hearty steel-cut oats, a little less sugar, pecans and dried cherries. I left out the walnuts and sunflower seeds. I will definitely make. Thanks annie9 for a great recipe!

This should be titled "Worlds Best Granola"!!! I have made this recipe a dozen times and everyone loves. I can not make it fast enough! I made some small changes to suit our taste but we can not thank you enough for this recipe!!! I did not add the maple syrup or the sunflower seeds or the walnuts. Instead I used a full cup of honey and I cut the oil in half. I also used about 2 cups of dry roasted no salt peanuts. Once done baking I added 1 1/2 cups raisins. Thanks!!!

I tried this recipe because I was trying to recreate the granola that a chef I used to work for made at her B&B. This was an Excellent place to start. I use cashews instead of walnuts (walnuts to bitter for me), I also add coconut slices, pepitas, and 1 tsp flax seeds (for 1/3 recipe) instead of oat bran. It just isn't possible to buy granola any where near this good. It is not supposed to be a Diet food! :)

If you're reading reviews, you're probably wondering, "do I want to spend all this money on ingredients?" - YES!! This recipe is EXCELLENT! I agree with welldone's review, the granola doesn't appear "crunchy" until it cools a little, so take it out after the suggested time. I didn't have all the ingredients so made a few subs: - I ran out of oat bran, so topped it up with 1/4 cup of ground flax - I ran out of oatmeal, so added extra walnuts This recipe is a keeper- I'll make it again and again. Thanks!!

I'm happy with it. Definitely be careful about burning. Don't let it turn brown. Just cook according to the directions and then take it out, even if it seems soft. It will harden as it cools. My preference is that the honey-nut taste was a bit strong. Next time I will use half the nuts, no honey, and add sweetened coconut with coconut oil in place of veg. oil. I also subbed ground flax for the oat bran. I figured there were already enough oats and wanted to add the healthy flax. Though a 1:1 sub was a bit much. Maybe next time i'll only add half the flax so it won't leave little flecks in the bottom of my bowl :) I also didn't add raisins to the whole batch I add them in later as needed. Sometimes I do fresh fruit instead of raisins.

This is a wonderful recipe. After finish baking, I added 2 orange zest and the family liked it better. Also, I want it less starch, more fiber, more protein. My variation. oats - 8 cups flax seed meal- 3 cups sunflower seed - 3 cups walnuts - 7 cups wheat germ - 3 cups wheat flakes - 3 cups. Then I double the wet ingredients. I mixed both wet and dry in a bowel (I tried pouring over the baking pan method and I found it messy and slow). I compact it down and baked it and turn it over once. I've got a lot of big chunks!!!

This is good stuff. I did make 1/3 of the recipe and it made plenty. I baked it for 15 min, flipped it, and baked it 15 min more. It does not come out of the oven cripy, it is soft and gets crispy and slightly clumpy as it cools. *I also made one batch with Pumpkin Pie Spices and dried blueberries. It was delish.
