I make a simplified version of this...just beef, onion, mushrooms, garlic cloves, green pepper. Then I added tomatoe paste, some diced tomatoes, a couple fresh tomatoes, oregano, olive oil, salt and pepper and voila...a quick and tasty pasta

Yummy! I used half of each kind of meat and found the sugar completely unnecessary though.

Very good! Makes a LARGE batch (feed 8 adults and 6 kids) and freeze's great. Quick and simple to make. If you don't like your sauce sweet, use 1/4 cup sugar or omit all together. Make sure to drain tomatoes or it'll end up very runny (made that mistake in one batch). I also used tomato sauce that already had Italian season added, plus an Italian season mix instead of all the different season's.

I thought this was good. My husband thought it was ok, he likes it thicker. I didn't add the sudar, thought it was fine without. Thanks.

Too sweet for me but the other people liked it. One even asked for the recipe. People who like their sauce tart/savoury should reduce the sugar to 1/4 cup or less. Probably not a good idea to leave it out completely as a little sugar does add an extra dimension to savoury dishes

Wow! This really wasn't for me. VERY VERY SWEET. I think it might have been good if I had skipped the sugar part. I spent the bulk of my afternoon preparing this and I honestly had to start over.

This is almost exactly how I make my spaghetti sauce. I used brown sugar and cut it back to two tablespoons. I didn't have green peppers, so I used red. I sauteed the garlic with a cup of sliced mushrooms and added that in as well. I also added a couple shakes of Worchestershire sauce. Sometimes, I'll add spinach or shredded zucchini for added veggie power/fiber. This makes a lot, but my boys are good eaters. This also freezes well, too. EDITED 08/08/08: I used this today for Pioneer Woman's Lasagna and it worked out great for me. (TIP: If you are freezing spaghetti sauce in plastic containers and worried about staining the plastic, spray the inside with cooking spray. Really helps keep the staining to a minimum.)
