These got a pretty solid "eh" from everyone in the family. I spiced them up just as another reviewer suggested (added cloves, nutmeg and coffee) and they were still bland. Not BAD, just not great. I'm sorry!

My Grandmother and I use this exact recipe but we roll the dough and cut with a large drinking glass, then sprinkle sugar on them before baking.Bake for 10-12 minutes at 350.They are the best molasses cookies I ever had.

Kind of bland...but easy to fix the blandness!try adding 1/2 tsp clove, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, and substitute the 1 c hot water for 1 cup hot coffee!

The cookies were really bland! They didn't have that zing typical of molasses/ginger cookies. On the plus side they were soft and chewy. I iced some of them with powdered sugar icing and it helped give them a little personality but not much.
