I made this recipe this weekend. It was my first attempt at fondant. I decided to try this one since I've read that MMF can be more forgiving. I had a lot of fun making it and rolling it and playing with it. My husband even got into the action, but did not seem to relish it as much as I. When I rolled it out, I was very suprised at how easy it was. I had purchased a silicon rolling pin, so maybe that was some of it. I had dusted my counter with cornstarch as well, but I really thought that things would stick more. But, no worries. Cutting the shapes was good fun. I really started flashing back to my childhood, playing with play dough and such. So, fun recipe. Now to brass tacks. Although shows on Food Network make it look easy to cover a cake in fondant, it is NOT easy to smoothly cover a round, barrel shape with a flat piece of frosting. I tried to burnish it and stretch it and make it pretty and flawless but did not do so perfectly. I can see that a person needs to practice. So if you are a beginner, do not expect things to go easily and flawlessly the first time. Also, if you're going to stick on shapes or other decorations, have your water or butter cream on hand so that you can just reach over and get some "glue" when you need it. As for taste, this is a SWEET frosting. 1 lb of marshmallows and 2 lbs of sugar pretty much means it's going to be SWEET. It does however not taste as bland as other fondants I have eaten. I put in some extra vanilla flavori

It tasted yummy, but the heat made it 'melt'

Had alot of fun with this recipe. The humidity was very high. I froze the cake before i covered it. When i brought it out and put the fondant on it everything started sweating from the humidity. I was worried it would melt but in the end the sweating gave the fondant a nice shiny look (looked like i meant to do it) It was SUPER easy to work with. took gel food coloring beautifully. I will use this again many many times!! Thank you

This was way to easy for the finished product. I have a KA mixer so it was a breeze. I also loved how forgiving it is unlike regular frosting. Will use this one again and again!!

This is very yummy and neat to work with once you get it stable. I kept thinking I was doing it wrong until it finally stopped sticking! Requires a lot of work if you don't have one of those KA mixers. Will use again when I want to create a masterpiece!

This was tasty, but please use a Kitehen Aid or Cuisinart Stand Mixer - my poor little handheld couldn't handle the dough - and it's HARD WORK mixing by hand. I'll use this again when I need fondant, but hopefully I'll have a better mixer next time. :)

I wish I had read the reviews about greasing a mixer! Though I did it all by hand, it was very simple and I'm very satisfied with the results! I've only used store-bought fondant before (and that very rarely) and I must say this fondant was waaay better. My neice's spongebob birthday cake is going to look wonderful, thanks!

THIS RECIPE IS AMAZING!!!! So much easier than traditional fondant and quite a bit less expensive! I made 3 batches. The first 2 I did by hand & it was kinda messy of course. Then I read the reviews & greased my kitchen aid w/ criso & used the dough hook. 2 bowls of dishes no mess at all I added all the sugar in the mixture instead of kneading a cup in by hand, the mixer can handle it. I sprayed my fondant mat w/ pam when I rolled out, it was just perfect, no problem tranferring it to the cake. It did bubble a bit on the cake in the back but it was a humid warm day & we didnt have AC on yet. For my cake decorations I made a batch w/ a bit more sugar & less marshmallow so it would be stiffer. Worked like a charm. Play with your extracts!!! I did 3 tsps lemon into one 2 tsps raspberry into anoter and 3 tsp orange extract into the 3rd. This is one fondant that you can actually eat, though I must say my kids love it way more than the adults who (unlike kids) dont think marshmallows are the best thing since sliced bread.

This was not the first time I have tried to make fondant. But this was the best I have used. The marshmallow flavor is very yummy and it was very easy to work with. I will use this recipe over and over again. The amount of ingredients is very few and the steps very easy to follow, anyone could make this even a beginner.

I used shorting instead of butter. Very easy to make and taste better than store bought. I didn't really use up the 2 pounds. Had about box 1/2 left. Fondant worked out great!

I LOVED this recipe! I did use a bit more powdered sugar when I rolled this out so make sure you have extra on hand. This was so easy to work with. I have passed the recipe on to several friends. Thanks for submitting it!

This was my first experience with fondant. Never have eaten it or made it.I liked it a lot! My kids not so much. They thought it was too sweet. We are used to canned frosting. The recipe was just fine, it's my kids that need fixing! haha. Thank you for giving me a challenge and going out of my comfort zone!! Will make again.

I don't know if I had problems with this because I used a mixer or what but it was impossible for me to roll this out to cover the cake... I had to use a lot of extra powdered sugar. It worked great to make details and mold things with a lot of powdered sugar on the hands and work surface though. I will try this again, but next time I won't use the mixer and see if that works.

Perfection! This was my first time working with fondant and it went very smoothly. The only tricky part I encountered was when I was rolling the fondant out, it would stick in places on the counter although it was very powdered, so it took me a couple of tries, but is no big deal! Thanks!
