Lots of sugar, dark corn syrup and pecans come together with other delicious ingredients to create the quintessential pecan pie. Everything is stirred together in one bowl, poured into a prepared crust, and baked until this sweet pie is brown and slightly puffed.

Sugar, cocoa powder, eggs, flour, butter and milk are put in a cast iron pan and cooked slowly and until thick and luscious. A bit of vanilla is added, and then the filling is poured into a crust, covered with meringue and baked until golden brown.

Yes, it is gloriously Southern -- as I am, and a family favorite! It's made with dark corn syrup, peanut butter and whole peanuts and looks like pumpkin pie, but don't be fooled! This pie is simple and delicious for those who like peanut butter. It is a great recipe to serve guests as it is an unexpected taste treat!
