Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • sugar
  • FILLING:
  • 1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple flavoring

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar. Beat in the egg yolk and flour; mix well. Shape into 1-in. balls. Dip the tops in sugar. Place sugar side up 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten with a fork. Bake at 325 degrees F for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks to cool. Combine filling ingredients in a small mixing bowl; beat until smooth. Spread on the bottom of half of the cookies; top with remaining cookies.

Very good! I like the flavor of the cookies by themselves but the filling makes it even better!! MORE
