Maple-Glazed Pork Chops
SUBMITTED BY:
Cheryl Miller
"Everyone cleaned their plates when my mother made these succulent tangy sweet pork chops when I was growing up. Now, I get the same results when I serve them to my family alongside applesauce and au gratin potatoes."

DIRECTIONS
In a large resealable plastic bag, combine flour, salt and pepper. Add pork chops and shake to coat. In a skillet, brown chops on both sides in butter. Place in an ungreased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Bake, uncovered, at 450 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until juices run clear.
Meanwhile, in a skillet, bring the vinegar to a boil. Reduce heat; add maple syrup. Cover and cook for 10 minutes. Combine cornstarch and water until smooth; add to the maple mixture. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
Place chops on a broiler pan; sprinkle with brown sugar. Broil 4 in. from the heat for 2-3 minutes or until sugar is melted. Drizzle with maple glaze.

Gosh, these chops were WONDERFUL. After browning the chops, I made the sauce in the same pan to get all the good little browned bits from the bottom. Why waste those? Didn't measure the brown sugar, just put enough (really, about a tablespooon) on each chop to lightly cover and patted it on the chop; we don't like super-sweet stuff. Watch it closely under the broiler! You want it to melt, not turn into rock candy. Deeelicious.

Oh my goodness! These were soooo good! I still don't know the reasoning behind flouring and frying the chops but maybe it is to seal in the flavor! I was leery about the vinegar/maple sauce but it came together really nicely. Will try with boneless pork chops.

I was a little concerned that these would be weird with the brown sugar and maple syrup, but they were really good. My fiancee said they were restaurant style and unlike anything else he had as far as pork chops were. I didn't have the brown sugar become crispy like other reviewers. As soon as the pork chops were done baking, I pulled them out and spread small spoonfuls of brown sugar and it melted instantly, drizzled maple glaze and broiled. Maybe the other reviewers broiled them too long or too close to the flames??? Tried them with sauteed apples and slow cooker mashed potatoes. A wonderful combination.

These were fantastic! My husband said this was the best pork chop I've ever made. I followed the directions exactly, except I used lite maple syrup and lite margarine. I was a little worried that I wouldn't like the glaze, especially after I tasted it. It had a very tangy taste I didn't care for. I was dead wrong. It tastes great on the pork chops. It's a wonderful combination, and I can't imagine how fantastic it would've been had I used real maple syrup. It's a litte bit of work, but worth it!

These are SCRUMPTIOUS! We have made them twice now, my sons (6 and 3) asked for seconds. To cut down on dirty dishes, I followed another reviewer's advice and made the sauce in the browning skillet, as well as baking and broiling on a foil-covered sheet pan. In addition, it was easier to just season the chops on both sides first to get the right amount, and then dredge in flour and shake off the excess. Don't sweat it if the brown sugar doesn't melt all the way; you just get some extra crunch from the unmelted crystals. We'll stick to the bone-in chops so we can gnaw off every last delectable speck.

I was not a huge fan of pork chops before I found this recipe. Only used to eating dry, overcooked chops or onion and mushroom soup flavoured chops, when it came time for me to prepare dinner for my husband and father-in-law, I was a little leary. I needn't have worried. These were the best pork chops I ever tasted and now have been relegated to dinner duty on pork chop night.

OMG! My family will not ease pork chops because they feel they are always too dry and lack taste. This recipe is spectacular. Not only do they taste amazing, they are juicy! The only change I made to this recipe is that i used homemade red wine vinegar which my husband makes for me rather than the cider vinegar. You will not be disappointed!
