I made this following the recipe exact the first time and I didn't like how the maple cream settled on top of all the apples. The second time I made it I poured the maple mixture over the apples right off the stove so as it cooled it formed around the apples. Came out much better that time! It doesn't stay together very well when cut but its delicious! The maple cream is so good, I bet it would make a good pie by itself!

The flavor of the custard was very good on its own, but once it was put on the pie it lost its appeal. The liquid from the apples made the crust soggy, and the maple flavor was lost in the cinnamon and sugar.

I had a recipe for a Maple Apple Pie that I lost, and was looking to replace it. This was very different, but quite good.

Not very good at all. The texture didn't turn out thick enough. Maybe it was my doings.

I am not sure what I did wrong, but this was not a hit at my house. The custard part sat on top of the apples and created an unappealing layered effect where the topping was super rich and the apples were sort of dry. It smelled really good, but the flavor was too separated for my family.

Very good pie...everyone loved it (even those not in love with apple pie). I might add a patchwork-type dough topper to make it look a little prettier, as mine did not look extremely appealing, but the taste was delicious. Thanks!

This was a family favorite at Thanksgiving this year. Easy to make and clean up afterwards. But I used much more maple syrup to get the cream filling darker and more flavorful.

A very pleasing alternative to the normal apple pie. I had to check my syrup before starting as many pancake syrups contain no maple flavor or syrup at all. The first one was a bit light on maple so when I made another for Thanksgiving at my parents we added a bit of maple flavoring and it was perfect. My mom loved it and can't wait to impress the ladies at church at the next potluck. I used a mix of golden delicious and granny smith to give the filling more variety.

Excellent twist on apple pie--rich but good. Just use a deep dish pie plate, mine was over flowing in a regular one. --Fellow Northern Wisconsiner
