My husband and I loved this. I would have given it 5 stars if I could get my kids to eat it, but they are super picky... Anyway I doubled the sauce and added fresh julienned carrots and steamed broccoli. I also used the juice from the oranges for the sauce and saved the orange slices for a fruit salad. Rice would have been great but instead served with asian noodles. My husband said it was restaraunt-worthy. This recipe is a keeper! Update: just changed it to 5 stars... the kids just ate it for lunch and loved it! And it tasts even better the second day cold out of the fridge just like good chinese food should!!

I'm torn on whether to give this 3 or 4 stars. 4 stars to me is "very good" while 5 stars should be saved for those dishes that are simply superb. I'm giving it a 3, sorry. My husband really liked it but I thought it was just ok and that it was missing something. I did make it stovetop as opposed to in the microwave. I think nut encrusted chicken browned in a pan and use the mandarin orange sauce for a topping would have resulted in a much tastier dish.

The ingredients and ratios for the sauce make this recipe worthwhile. I cubed the chicken and sauteed over med-high heat w/ onion & garlic. When the chicken was done I added the sauce, which thickened perfectly to top the rice. I highly recommend Kevin's teriyaki recipe from this site - it's easy and better than store bought. My guests agreed that this was much better than fast food pan-asian, and I loved that it was almost as fast to throw together.

FANTASTIC! I did a skillet version of this instead of microwave - it was absolutely delish. It was very similar to a sauce I love from Panda Express. If you love Oriental sauces you will not be disappointed with this one. I also used Soy Vay Teriyaki sauce which I highly recommend.
