Since I tend to not like the taste of canned fruits/vegetables, I used fresh mushrooms. I also left out the canned mandarin oranges - instead I used 1/2 cup OJ. I substituted beef broth for the water and I upped the groud ginger to 1 tsp. I omitted the water chestnuts because I did not have any. This is a quick and easy recipe that tastes good. But it is lacking something in flavor. Spice maybe?

This is a really quick dish to throw together! It was tasty and filling. I omitted the onions, browning the ground beef with a couple cloves of chopped garlic instead. I added a can of bamboo shoots and next time I would probably use 2 cans of oranges (but only the juice from one). I really loved the bites with oranges in them! It was a little too watery for my tastes, I would probably cut down the water a bit next time. Thank you!

Very tasty, but I used stir fry beef instead of ground beef.

My husband and I both liked this recipe just as it was. But next time I am going to try two things in order to increase the orange flavor. I want to use Orange Juice or concentrate instead of the syrup in the oranges and the water. Also I will use two cans of oranges instead of one as I found there were just not enough oranges for 1 lb of ground beef. Thank you for this recipe!!!!

My picky 3 and 6 year olds ate it - and asked for seconds!! I don't care for ginger, so I halved what it called for, and added about 2 tsp garlic powder! That must be the missing link! I didn't have green pepper (the kids don't like it anyways) and I don't like mushrooms so I skipped that - otherwise - WONDERFUL!! Easy great meal that I have on hand any night of the week!!

Very fast throw together meal, reminded us a lot of chop suey, bamboo shoots and even bean sprouts would be a nice touch to this. I also agree with other reviewer on the flavor being a bit on the soft side, I think the soy sauce is right amount but maybe more ginger would definetly be a good idea. All in all it is a good dish.

Very appealing dish! I think the flavor was too soft and I would cut back on the liquid (or cook and drain the beef before adding the veggies) and definitely kick up the soy sauce and ginger. I added in bamboo shoots, too. Very tasty and different!
