The kids and I really liked these. We made half with cinnamon sugar and the other half with coarse salt. The only change I made was that I made them into long sticks which I thought would be less messy. Super easy to make in my Kitchenaid mixer.

These were very good! I made the recipe as is and they came out great. I worked on a smaller cutting board surface so I had a little trouble rolling the pretzels out and shaping them, they didn't look too pretty when I put them in the oven but once they were done they had puffed up and looked exactly like the pretzels from the mall. After reading previous reviews about sticking, I used foil on a cookie sheet and greased it pretty liberally with butter -- the pretzels stuck a tiny bit but because of the (yummy) crust on the bottom, with a little patience the foil peeled right off. After they were finished cooking, I brushed some butter on them and then grinded some coarse garlic salt on top. Delicious!

These were good. We didn't have all the toppings we would have liked and I think that would have made them better. Next time.

Just made them and had no problem. I did substitute bread flour with all purpose flour. Still came out great!!! I loved them and so did my husband!

These are very good. It is very close to the recipe Bobby Flay used on the Throwdown show. I threw the ingredients in my bread machine on the dough setting. I put it on a lightly floured surface and cut into 6 pieces (I only made a half recipe). It was kind of hard to roll out. They were very thick. I might try one of the suggestions and roll, then let it rest and go back to it. I boiled 4 cups of water and added 4 tsp baking soda. I dropped in for a few seconds and then put on a greased cookie sheet. I let it rise for 20 minutes in a warm oven. I brushed it with an egg wash and put cinnamon and sugar on some and salt on others. Then baked for 12-15 minutes in a 425 degree oven. They were very thick (my fault for not rolling it out more) but tasted very good. Will definately make again, but next time with all purpose flour.

These turned out really well! Especially after dunking them in melted butter and tossed in cinnamon sugar. Letting the dough rest before rolling them out into ropes is key as well to getting the perfectly sized pretzels.

GREASE the pan or parchment paper!!!!!! I did not do this, and the were very hard to get off. Other than that......very yummy. The kids made their names and shapes, and finished it out with pretzels or if you are not too good at shaping pretzels, just make sticks! Sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, very good.

They tasted pretty good, but I had a difficult time getting them shaped correctly, they ended up looking like lumpy rolls. That's my own fault, but the reason I deducted one star is the texture isn't quite what I expected, I think next time I make them I will make the ropes thinner so they look like pretzels, and dunk them in a pot of simmering baking soda water instead of the wash in this recipe.

I just made this with a slew of 2-3 year olds. Even with tiny hands doing the measuring, stirring, kneading and shaping, they turned out YUMMY.

these... are incredible. I just ate my first one out of the batch. I did as another reviewer said they did and boiled them first! OH boyyy are these good. That was better than the Aunt annies pretzels. I can't wait til this next batch gets done to see how they turned out too!

This is the second time I've made this recipe for my family. I make the pretzels into thin sticks that make it easier for my toddlers to eat! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

We were very disappointed in the taste; we didn't think these had any flavor to them. The only change I made was using all purpose flour for all of it because I didn't have any bread flour, but I don't think that would have changed the blandness. There is another recipe on this site called "Buttery Soft Pretzels" that are a lot more flavorful and easy to make.

Very Good! Try adding a Tablespoon of Sourdough Starter, and then letting the whole dough rest overnight in the fridge before forming and baking the Pretzaas! Yum!!! also brush them with milk just before baking for a shiny gold look.
