Original Recipe Yield 11 x 13 inch pan
 

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups raisins
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats

Directions

  1. To Make Filling: Cook over low heat the raisins, sugar, cornstarch, water and lemon juice. Stir until thickened, about 5 minutes. Cool.
  2. Mix butter with sugar, add salt, baking soda, and flour, then oats. Press half of the mixture onto a greased pan (13x9x2"). Spread on filling. Pat remaining crumbs on top.
