These are really good! I used frozen rolls as others had mentioned. Filled with chopped deli turkey and provolone (it's what we had). I sprinkled a touch of garlic salt, oregano and basil over the top after the egg wash. We all liked them. Our girls will take them tomorrow in their lunchboxes too. I'll try again with some other combos, but this basic idea will stay around in our house for a while! Thanks for the great recipe.

I thought these tasted exactly like hot pockets! I used velveeta since that's what I had on hand and everyone at home really liked it! When I first started doing the dough I thought this recipe was terrible because I ended up with holes it the dough when I filled them. I kept going and I got better and in the end I finished with perfect little handwiches!! Definately a keeper! :)

I made these for my husband's lunch using leftover Easter ham. The end result was pretty tasty, but a little on the bland side. I used ham and swiss and some with ham and cheddar...but they were missing something, I just don't know what. It's important to note that I also used the Honey Whole Wheat dinner rolls recipe off this site and it worked beautifully. Next time I makde these, I am going to put pizza filling inside - that would be delicious.

I recommend this all of the time. I use the dinner rolls rather than the loaf, and like another reviewer I use two proofed rolls to make a sandwich that looks like an uncrustable. I bake, freeze, and pop straight from freezer to lunchbox. The sky is the limit for fillings - I let the kids help assemble so they can tailor the fillings to their liking.

This was a very tasty and creative recipe. I made these sandwiches for supper, and served them with vegetable soup. Instead of the frozen bread dough, I used the Honey Wheat Sandwich Roll dough from this site, as another reviewer suggested. I used cheddar and mozzerella cheese in mine, and pastrami instead of ham, because that was all I had. I made them smaller than the recipe stated, and they turned out very well. Very tasty; I will be making these again!

These were pretty tasty little sandwiches. Family said they taste like Hot Pockets. I put some in the freezer for kids to microwave whenever they're hungry. I may or may not make these again, I'm not sure.

okay, so mine didn't look anything like the pictures but they tasted great. I had trouble keeping them closed and had some cheese leakage! Oh well, I'm sure with practice i'll get better. I had some leftover meatballs so I made some with meatballs and provolone cheese and others with deli turkey and american cheese and did some as written. Very versitile. Going to freeze some for lunches. I wonder how they microwave after being frozen. I'll try it at work and let you know! Update: My husband won't let me stop making these. They freeze and microwave beautifully. You have to try a breakfast "handwich" with scrambled eggs, crumbled bacon and cheese. Yum!

So good! I used a pizza dough recipe for the bread machine to which I added some fresh garlic. I then used the cheese that I had on hand, which was some Colombian white cheese and the ham. Packed these for lunches for both my husband and son and they were a hit. My son said the kids at school asked where he got it and if it was a Hot Pocket. They looked good and traveled well. I can see so many variations of this recipe and it was easy to prepare. Using the homemade dough was also a bonus. The second time making this I used the dough from the "Honey Wheat Sandwich Rolls" and made them smaller into empanadas and baked for about 11 minutes in the oven. Came out great -- see the picture for yourself!

Nice easy recipe! Turned out great! I used Rhodes frozen dinner rolls instead of frozen bread loaf. It made it really easy to roll out a circle. I used 2 rolls for each sandwich, so they came out looking like little pies. Filled them each with a half cup of chopped leftover turkey and 1 slice of american cheese. I plan on making them again using different fillings.

This was an easy for kids after school snack. Next time I will try different combinations. Make sure you seal the edges well cause the cheese will ooze out while baking! I also skipped the egg wash part and they looked and tasted just fine.

Theses were wonderful. I added italian spice and parmesean to the bread dough and filled them with turkey and cheese. I froze them for my b/f and he finished them in a few days and is now requesting more.

This was one handy and mouthwatering crowd pleaser. I made these for a church picnic and all that was left to take home was and empty basket. I invited the whole family over for dinner a couple days later and everyone customized their own sandwich. My favorite was with spinach, black olive, and sun dried tomatoes. You can put whatever your heart desires in them. Note, however, just how long the bread needs to rise. I forgot to do this both times. The package said let it rise for 2-3 hour, but I found that an hour and a half does just fine too.

These were a big hit. I had issues rolling the dough into circles so they weren't very pretty but tasted great. Served with a variety of mustards.

Very tasty, a great alternative to a ham and cheese sandwich! I used deli ham and just chopped it into small squares. I also used sliced provolone and swiss, chopped into small squares rather than shredded, and mixed the two cheeses with the ham in the sandwiches. They took 14 minutes in the oven and they were just perfect! The whole family loved these and I will make them again!
