I used half whole wheat flour, half brown sugar, and replaced the margarine with oil. I also added 1/4 c. toasted walnuts. Delicious! I only had 2 1/2 bananas, but it would probably been better with 3. It could have been because of this that I enjoyed Banana Bread I more and found it to be moister.

Pretty good! I did follow other peeps suggestions using half white sugar half brown sugar, and used apple sauce instead of margarine. I also added dashes of cinnamon, a bit of cardamom, and walnuts. My bread came out slightly dense but still moist but I think I need new baking sodas.

recipe was delicious and very moist. Also great that it was low fat. I took the other reviewers suggestions and used applesauce in place of margerine.

I tried this recipe hoping to find a little healthier breakfast bread, this one was pretty good still had all of the flavor of normal banana bread, I did substitute butter in for margarine... I also added some walnuts... After reading the other reviews next time I make this I will try using applesauce in place of the margarine, cutting back on the sugar as long as I have very ripe bananas to at least 1/2 cup and use brown sugar for half of that, milk instead of water, and possibly adding 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

First lower fat banana bread to satisfy my husband. I used Smart Balance Spread (slightly lower in fat) for the margarine in the recipe. I also used 2/3 cup white whole wheat flour and 1 cup all purpose. Great bread!!!!

I swapped this basic low fat banana bread recipe to suit my healthier choices. Used only whole wheat flour with an additional third cup of oatmeal, third cup of honey instead of the sugar, canola oil instead of margarine, three egg whites (no yolks) and added vanilla, cinnamon and walnuts to taste. It suited my needs for a healthy banana bread. Bake time is the same. Delicious!

I replaced the margarine with SF applesauce and added 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips. Delicious results.
